I find that I do sound effects as well from time to time when (I think) it is thematically appropriate. I seem to be able to gauge when it could be potentially annoying. Although when I'm by myself playing video games I find myself doing it even when there is a good computer generated effect already there.

But in answer to your question, I haven't really run into a big sound effects guy, not sure how I would react. Probably wouldn't effect me once the scotch kicked in and I might even join in.

That sound effect guy from Police Academy was funny though.

I'd have to say I'm 1/12 responsible for loud, drunken and disorderly conduct. This is the email my gaming group received yesterday:

Event: Acoustical Upgrades and Damage Control.
Date and time: March, 25 2009
Where: Tweak's underground lair.
Description: With regret, I have decided to stop our Wednesday gaming for some acoustical upgrades and renovations. The noise volume of 12 plus guys has tested my wifes patients and is disrupting my kids sleep. I hope to be up and running by 4/15/09. with some new house rules and regulations. Don't fret this is just temporary.
Tweaks

-I never get the rules right and leave out most of them. "Roll some dice, move your guys. Sometimes you fight stuff. Lets play!"


-My alignment is chaotic random. "Yeah I'm attacking you. Why? Cause Frank is too far away.."

-I'm loud and often drunk."Beer me Bitch! I Where are the chicks at?"

-I have no attention span. What?

-I eat anything put in front of me. Including game pieces and small pets.

-I am distracted by anything vaguely feminine. Barnes should probably stop wearing skirts.

-I am an antogonist without peer. I've had at least 10 different people tell me they are my arch enemy.


Fortunately my tendency to wear tanktops and play excellent games like Circus Imperium balances out all my negetive traits.

I do sound effects all the time. It seems to be a thing in our playgroups. Everyone usually jumps on board. Most of the time, it's singing a really stupid song about what is going on a-la Flight of the Concords. Other people join in and it's good fun.

Like this is gonna sound really lame but I assure you it was awesome, we were playing something like Agricola, Race for the Galaxy or Princes of Florence (I'm almost positive it was Princes) and my buddy Dan couldn't decide what to bid on. He kept saying to himself, "Which one's better? Which one's better? Which one's better?" and it didn't take long for that to turn into a Daft Punk remix that we all start singing.

I do that pencil-twirl thing as well -- learned it in highschool debate.

I straighten all the card decks and the cards MUST be in the same direction -- this definitely comes from back in the Magic days.

I tend to make sound effects and chastise slower players.
