Well, yeah, it does but a travelling carnival of games coming into town sounds a lot cooler than going down to freaking smoke-filled Pinball Palace or Red Baron and having these mustachioed 18-year-olds muscle me away from the ROBOTRON 2084 machine.

We had the best of both worlds. Regular arcades, and all the weird carnivals would pack their own arcade tent with them.

Don't play competitive games with the carnies. That's pretty much a good rule no matter what you're discussing.

I'd say don't play a co-op game with them either.

Whoa, we never had anything like that, that sounds fun.

It sounds the same as an Arcade, which used to be all over the US. I'm guessing wherever sydo grew up the local economy wasn't strong enough to support an established Arcade. That kind of business requires a certain amount of disposable income among local kids/teens.

You are right Mad Dog, it was shortly after the revolution and regular Arcades began to appear years after. But we still never had much of them.

Speaking of Castlevania, did you guys see the E3 trailer of the new 360 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow game? They've tried to do 3D Castlevania games in the past to horrible results, but Lords of Shadow actually looks pretty cool.

Actually, Catlevania for the N64 was a very good game, and critically praised at the time as well. It's only real sin is that it isn't exactly-the-fucking-same as SotN, for which the collective gaming audience had popped a raging ex post facto boner.

Seriously, has someone come up with a Castlevania random title generator yet? Let's see, how to match up a classical music compositional form with an adjective describing discontent...

Etude of Malaise?
Cantata of Tribulation?
Oratorio of Affliction?
Overture of Regret?

I can keep going.

Ah Robotron, I STILLhave a hard-on for that game. I've even made special note to go to the arcades if ever I'm in the Portland area to play that damn stand-up. Dark beer and Robotron, such a nice treat.
