Over the past few years FAT has experienced a baby-boom. I would assume that threads about general family/parenting etc could go into the community catch all section of the forum. But if you feel otherwise please let me know.

Do you think we need to add a some sort of Family forum in the lounge ?

Do you think we need to add a family gaming section to the game room ?

Do you want more coverage of family and kid games in the articles?

I'm still gonna curse in there.

I could start writing articles about kids games played by a drunken adult since I tend to play more than most kids do. Actually, that might make a fun video podcast; get me real liquored up and I review stuff like Ants in the Pants and Blockhead. Would this entertain people?!?!?

Yes. I know that that might not be "AT", but that kind of stuff isn't covered well by BGG either. And too many "family"-oriented game websites/writing is actually "home-school Christian"-oriented, so we need some alternative perspectives out there.

I'm imagining Hungry, Hungry Hippos getting pretty physical.

I need a "pimp my kids game" section. That way I may be able to find flyswatters for my copy of Fliegen Klatschen in the middle of Winter.

I still have no idea what all the sections are- I only browse the site via "recent topics" so maybe I'm missing tons of content- but I'd definitely be interested in talking family/kid games.

You probably aren't missing any content. I think the primary benefit of categories is that the category names appear under the thread title in the recent topics list, which can help you decide if its a topic you are actually interested in. Like I almost always skip the wargame threads because I have no clue what those guys are talking about in there.

I think most guys come here to get away from the kids and be able to swear and talk about fun stuff.

I do

I thought most Eurogames were family games.

But speaking as someone without children (and thank Christ--seriously, reading some of you guys' posts is the most effective birth control I've ever seen), I say why not have separate forums? Admittedly, there's lots of family talk already happening all over the site, so you could argue it's not necessary, but sometimes having its own category sparks more discussion. (This is especially true for new users.)

Wow! Proof positive that YOU TOO have a voice in changing the Fort! Thanks for taking that comment to heart, Uba.

I think having a section that's specifically for family games/family stuff in general is great like Bullwinkle says for sparking new discussion that might otherwise not feel like it has a place. And if you're sans kids and/or single, you can self edit the content you read like Uba does with Wargamers.

I'm one of the repeat offenders here, and I recommend keeping the focus of the site on gaming. There's other sites better suited to parenting.

So, this is totally a real thing now and still exists now that I'm sober in the morning. Hopefully editing it into something entertaining will be possible, but if nothing else, we had a whole lot of fun...
