Rap Godz - Hip Hop for your Tabletop.

RAP GODZ is a modern board game that puts you in the role of an up and coming hip-hop artist on your path to greatness.

The gameplay is a mix of strategy and storytelling as you play cards that represent events in your emcee's career and life. Along the way you will have to earn money, build up your street cred, and improve your rap skillz. Starting beef with players might put you on top but can also knock you out when you least expect it.

Prove you are the ultimate Rap God by taking over cities, hitting career goals, and earning the most record sales plaques by the end of your third album.

So get a pack of blacks and a beat CD and get yo' freestyles ready.

loses me at "storytelling" but otherwise looks cool. The discussion elsewhere is going about as one might imagine.

Lots of unknowns here, but different enough and stylish enough to stay on my radar.

Rather have a new edition of Legend of the Cipher, the hip-hop, deck-building game.

Yes! I still play this once every couple of years for kicks.

Dang! Just looked this up. Is this is a Kickstarter that never funded or something? Seems cool as hell.

Pre-Kickstarter, I believe. I had to print-and-build my copy with penny sleeves and bulk Magic commons, but I can’t find them online now. One thing I appreciated was that it featured a plethora of real artists and their bars. You could discover some new favorites that way.

I have a semi-professional copy that came via Gamecrafter. They did have a Kickstarter I believe but it failed, and they pushed forward anyway. Creative differences ended up splitting the design team apart, which is sad but amusing.

Exhuming this thread to share a great profile Indy Week did on Rap Godz co-creator Omari Akil: indyweek.com/culture/rap-godz-omari-akil/

Omari's a local and a good dude. I threw a small pledge at the campaign just to get it over the hump but didn't pick a reward. Now that it's actually coming out I may buy one from him. Really glad to see it going well.
