FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Buffalo-Based Brother and Sister Duo Alex and Rachel DiNunzio Look to Raise $14,000 via Kickstarter for their Hilarious Group Board Game, “The Breakup Game”

Buffalo, NY – May 14, 2013

We are spending far too much time looking mind-numbingly down at our phones and not enough time laughing with, or at, our friends and family.  The Breakup Game (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1638028058/the-breakup-game) is the DiNunzio sibling’s first attempt to reverse this trend.  They aim to bring a game to market which encourages friends to interact and “laugh a little.”

Growing up in Buffalo, both Alex and Rachel spent countless evenings playing board games with friends and family.  “Games connect people.  Although people enjoy different genres of games, everyone enjoys simple, unique, and funny games,” says Alex.  “Therefore, we set out to create a game based on a topic that naturally encourages storytelling and competition, dating; more specifically, the post-dating task of breaking up.”

The concept of The Breakup Game is simple and unique.

Using three decks of hand-illustrated cards, players embody a set of hilarious and abnormal characters that become their alter-egos.   Each round, players attempt to pick up one date (a player at the table) using their charm and by dishing out terrible disadvantages, blunders, and bodily abnormalities to the other players.  After all, you can only be so charming when asking someone out. Excessive sweating, or a rumor about your bizarre sexual fantasies, would certainly lower your chances of winning over a date!  Players will need to use their swagger and dating experiences to be the biggest "player."

To support their project, and to afford the first run-production of The Breakup Game, Alex and Rachel are raising funds via Kickstarter.  Kickstarter is a perk-based crowdfunding platform where project backers receive a physical perk (here, a copy of the game) in exchange for their financial support.  All contributions received via Kickstarter will go directly to manufacturing, shipping, and supporting The Breakup Game.

As with all Kickstarter projects, this project is All-Or-Nothing!  The Breakup Game will only be funded if at least $14,000 is pledged by Friday May 31 at 8:59am EST.  Therefore, Alex and Rachel are looking for your help and support, and quickly.  Interested parties can visit their website www.xandergaming.com or proceed directly to the Kickstarter campaign at http://kck.st/15R5RwU to “Back This Project.”

“We want to thank all of our game testers and project backers in advance.  We are proud to produce The Breakup Game and know that you will be excited to have it on your shelf to play with your friends over and over again,” says Rachel.  These siblings want to design hilarious and unorthodox games and although The Breakup Game is their first game to move through the full production process, it isn't their first idea.  They have been designing games for nearly five years and look forward to releasing other ideas to the world in the future.
