There Will Be Games

This episode is all about MONSTERS!  First we talk about Monster Slaughter, a great big box of plastic that completely took us by surprise.  Then we lift the veil on a game we've been designing, currently called "The Kaiju Project."  Shameless self promotion ensues.

There Will Be Games

Josh Look (He/Him)
Staff Podcaster

One night during the summer of 1997, Josh Look's cool uncle who owned a comic shop taught him how to play Magic the Gathering. The game set off his imagination in a way that he could not sleep that night, and he's been fascinated by games ever since. He spent many afternoons during his high school years skipping homework to play Dungeons & Dragons and paint Warhammer minatures, going on to discover hobby board games in his early 20s. He's been a writer for Fortress Ameritrash and is the creator and co-host of the geek culture podcast, The Wolfman's Lounge. He enjoys games that encourage a heavy amount of table talk and those that explore their themes beyond just their settings.

Thanks for your thoughts on Monster Slaughter. I like what Ankama made in Krosmaster, but it's not a very accessible game (it's more like a borderline lifestyle game) so it just got left in the wayside.

I can't wait to see another kaiju game made. There are far too few good retail examples of a kaiju game.
The only ones I can think of is King of Tokyo (which is just Gojira themed Yahtzee) and Rampage.

I'm definitely counted as interested.

[Edit] Also, give those of us unable to make it to Conncon a run down about the kaiju game as well.

Another great listen. Here is to hoping for some Mecha in the Kaiju project.

Now tell me you have a Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman clone with science ninjas powering up to unleash the Fiery Phoenix and I'm yours for life.

Might have to wait on the expansion for that one.

Josh was talking recently about getting us on to Spotify, but I guess it hasn't happened yet. Soon, hopefully! In the meanwhile we can be heard on Podbean, Podparadise, Owltail, Apple, BGG and probably a few other places as well. Happy Hunting!

We are submitted to Spotify. No guarantees they’ll have us, but I’ll keep you posted.
