I saw Barnes report on this and I'm excited to try it. Anyone who knows me here knows I have a soft spot for these types of games, the more meandering, pointless and less constrained the better. They're group activities for me, not competitive games---thus why I ditched Agricola which is more gamey and kept Fields of Arle.
Any of you guys try it?
Questions:
Do you have set number of workers? This would be a huge plus for me.
Are there strong "survival" resource requirements every turn (feeding your family) or is it much more whatever you want to do?
At the point salad end (I'm assuming it has one) are you encouraged to specialize or does it have those strong Rosenborg "balanced" point assignment?
Non-kludgey two player options?

My copy is on its way. From what I understand, everyone always has the same number of workers, and you gain 1-2 of them each round. I think the feeding becomes more important later in the game, but you don't need to constantly be worried about it.
