Thank you for submitting an application for Team Geek. We were overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of applications we received. Unfortunately, we were not able to select you as a member of the team for this year.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, we do plan on having Team Geek at future conventions and potentially adding to the number of spots we had available for this year. We encourage you to apply again next year if this would be something you are still interested in.
Again, thank you for volunteering to help at the convention. If you would still like to help in November, we’ll have plenty of other volunteer opportunities in the library, at set up, at tear down, and throughout the convention. We look forward to seeing you in Dallas!
Note: I had already offered to man the libraries and/or be a "roadie"/BGG janitor...
Kinda sad when I get a form rejection after applying to volunteer.

Ah but there's an hour of "fluffing" before, I bet...they may need some folks for that.

??? Did you expect them to craft custom messages to everyone who applied? And if they were paying someone to do so, then they would definitely never see a dime from me again!

Dave,
1) To answer your first question, well, the original post did say everyone would be notified after a week. It wasn't so much the form letter response as it was the letter saying we'd have to apply again if we really wanted to volunteer at the library or something (I assume for no shirts or entry fee waiving). Do I really care? Not really, this whole post was pretty much tongue in cheek. As a matter of fact, I was laughing when I called Superfly Pete after just getting the "rejection". Did I expect a personal response? Yes and no....I have been at BGG for over ten years, BUT I've never been to the con and this isn't really my group. Even so, every other con I've offered to volunteer with (a few Ive offered) have at least had a personal e-mail from either the con director or someone handling volunteers.
2. I guess you'll never give these guys money again, since at least $1,650 goes towards each "Team Geek" in the form of the con registration fee (this is if you are using the early bird rate). This doesn't even count the price of each shirt. So, yeah, BGG.con does spend money towards its staff (even though honestly it is a token based on what I know these guys do...helping at a convention can be a lot of work).
3. If there is any need for help running a Trashfest...Now THAT would be worth volunteering for...

So, I assume this means I can put you down for the 3am Taco Bell run.

For ConnCon? Maybe, but if I get too tired after taking the order, my hotel is RIGHT across the street...
But seriously, of course, my queen...
