Game Z was created by Virabhadra
An absolutely incredible game that you will never be able to find or play. Does Game Z still exist within the crowdfunding ecosystem?

And if so, where would you go looking for weird projects, off-the-wall ideas, and gone-for-broke indie designs nowadays?

Come to the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Christian Peterson, John Nephew, and Cole Wehrle all started board game companies here. A friend and I worked together to get a board game published by White Wolf in 2006. I know a few other local game designers, including two former FFG guys, and one guy who occasionally brings around a partial prototype but prefers to spend his free time working on math problems that haven't been solved yet. I think the long winters are conducive to board games and board game design, though some prefer to drink heavily and engage in winter activities like ice fishing and snowmobiling.

Ha ha I forgot all about Game Z…gosh now I’m trying to remember what it was? It was something Zev showed me, I remember that much…but I can’t remember what it was now!

I remember Magical Athelete and Train Raider, maybe there were others? Of course, if you can't remember, that WOULD be the ultimate Game Z...

I'd probably start here.

Ice fishing sounds like fun to me, but not so much fun that I want to drive 500 miles to do it.

The serious ice fishing involves driving out on a frozen lake, setting up a shelter, using equipment inside the shelter to bore a hole through the thick ice, fishing, sleeping in cots or bunks, and a great deal of drinking alcohol. The alcohol is an essential distraction from the rest of the miserable circumstances.

I’ve discovered a great alternative: get rid of the shelter, equipment, and outdoor exposure to the elements. Stay inside and drink heavily.

Aces. My interest in consims largely begins and ends with the Civil War (I grew up about twenty minutes from Gettysburg, so it was baked into my K-12 education) but Escape from Hades looks cool enough that I almost impulse-bought it at an auction on ToS last week. Very interesting to trace the title back to its publisher.

The first girl to break my heart was from Minnesota. She's my real Game Z.

Dude, what game?!?

Michael Barnes wrote: Who had the Excited Man picture, we need it here.

I assume you're referencing a famous old photo of you fist-pumping over a board game, but I am definitely. not. Googling 'Excited Man' to verify.

Excellent rec. I've owned Cosmic Frog since the beginning of the pandemic and we've never had a third player. I just picked up Shadows of Malice in an auction on ToS and I'm extremely excited for it.

Small world! I grew up in Hanover, PA and did my undergraduate in State College. I think I got my first speeding ticket in Dauphin county, driving home from school.
