Prince of Chaos: Battle for Tae Orn

I just bought this game on Tanga for $15, shipped. It has dark portals that can only be opened by Princes, where spells are obtained and battles fought. It takes four hours to play. The tiles are thick and big enough to choke a grown man. It has been described as ASL with a fantasy theme. In short, it feels pretty darn trashy. Currently you can get five copies for roughly $50, shipped. Here's a video review:

I do not want to know about these "dark portals".

HA! Flashback to the 80's, thanks Michael. I was a HUGE fan of His Royal Purpleness back in the day.

I still am. I watched PURPLE RAIN the other night in honor of its 25th (!!!) anniversary. My favorite part is when everybody is crying at the end during the title song and the mean old club owner solemnly nods, finally accepting The Kid and his music.

I hope you are right about PoC, Craniac.

From what I see, it just looks like a long and fun-lacking game. I don't think I could get anyone to the table to play this one.

I'd probably have gone for that Tanga deal (the singe copy) if I had seen it that day. Thank goodness I didn't. I have a soft spot those deals.

Please let us know if it is trashy or euro-y after you get a play or two under your belt.

I am on vacation and just read the rules. It is sort of like ASL, i.e. more wargame than Trash or Euro. I should point out that it has a giant DeathWyrm that can be ridden into battle and that can secretly burrow if dismounted first.

Wow! That sounds awesome! I'm all for mythical beasts mounted by warriors. Can you ride a manticore?

No, but you can ride a blood mare. I guess that's like a pissed off horse.

That's not bad.

The riding giant beasts is part of what I always found alluring about Warhammer Fantasy. There were guys riding all kinds of dragons, manticores, winged tauruses, griffins, lammusau and what not.

Awesome, two Chaos Dwarfs reference in that quote. The only army since 4th ed that didn't really make it to a real army book and kind of got dropped by GW.
