Any of you looking at Atlantic Chase?

I've been eyeballing Atlantic Chase (GMT) for a bit, but haven't seen any of it in detail. For those of you with more information, how does it look?

Now that this is out there I gotta say, it looks super interesting. Im interested if anyone has firsthand experience. The Player's Aid review certainly made it look cool.

Looks interesting. Here are Chris Farrell's comments which I enjoyed last week:

I wouldn't take this as a "don't play it," I don't always agree with Chris's opinion. It also sounds like it's good solo.

I passed on it in P500 but I've heard enough good word of mouth I burned off some of my Noble Knight credit to get it. Have only glanced at it so far. There is a lot of documentation, but people whose word I trust says the designers rules are always well written and well supported by the documentation .

I've always been half interested in PQ-17, along these lines.

PQ17 is an interesting game; been awhile since I played. Unlike AC, there is more emphasis on sub warfare. It is also more limited in scope to just the Norwegian/North Atlantic. There is an expansion somewhere in the pipeline. Ultimately the system was supposed to be ported to the Pacific/Solomon Islands campaign . But given the slow pace of the sequel I don't know where it stands.

They also had a med wwii game (Italy!) planned but like you said, pretty slow progress probably doomed all that.

I’ve always been interested in PQ17 because my great uncle was a Merchant Marine who did the northern run during WWII. He had a tattoo for each ship he served on that went down. I think there were three. As a guy in the engine room, he must have had some harrowing experiences escaping sinking ships.

I got it for solo play, and I've been digesting the rules over the last week; like most Jerry White joints, it seems to be something you can only really get a feel for by playing.

Also like most Jerry White joints, I'm enjoying the fact that instead of just skimming the rules to find out which mechanics I'm already familiar with get used and where, this appears to be something brand-new (or at least newly purposed) that I'll get to learn. Player aids, as per usual, seem top notch. The tutorial alone has its own booklet nearly as big as the scenario book itself.

Of note, for folks who have no interest in playing the Nazis, the 15 solo scenarios provide 7 where the player is the Home Fleet, and 8 where the player is the Kriegsmarine.

(And there is a PQ Arctic Convoy solo scenario, BTW.)
