Anybody play this? It seems to be one of those games that gets great reviews but no one has heard of it. I may buy a copy tomorrow. Low counter density, small map, plays in 90 minutes.
$32, magazine game so I’ll have ASL stuff to give away.

I played IMPERIAL TIDE, another small footprint, quick playing PTO strategic game.. The actual game itself aside, that level of abstraction didn't really engage me enough, even if the gameplay itself was good ( it was not ) . There seemed to be a flurry of pocket PTO games a few years ago. I have heard good things about GEACPS ; IT was Compass so probably explains the shite rulebook.
After I played IT, it gave me an urge to go back to EMPIRE OF THE SUN. Yes its longer and more complicated, but it connects me much deeper to the subject matter.
I may have been influenced by the podcast THE UNAUTHORIZED HISTORY OF THE PACIFIC WAR, which is excellent and worth checking out .

It was its title that caught my attention. Any game with a title that bad has to have something going for it, right?
All that said, it's only $32, so I stopped in at their store and bought a copy. I can impulse buy at that price. Let's see how it goes.

I once played a game of Axis and Allies, where I insisted on being referred to as this instead of as “Japan”. I also called Manchuria “Manchukuo.”

I asked my intended victim about the name and he knew exactly what it was.

Sag, you got me interested in GEAC-PS so I dropped $32 for it. I also tried Imperial Tide and didn’t care for it. Let us know what you think after playing it.

IMPERIAL TIDE had some wonky bits; I dimly recall looking at all the cards and counters and IIRC the Americans didn't have that big an edge in number of carriers vs what they did in reality. There was also some weirdness with the western map edge; it like cut halfway thru the DEI and had none of China/Burma etc on it.
