Thought I'd start a thread on this upcoming kickstarter. The design and publisher pedigree is really good if you like quirky euros, and this preview has a much more euro eclipse 4x vibe.

Anyway, I might go in for it when it goes up, we'll see. Especially if its asymmetry and breadth are as big as something like anachrony. Heavy economy and engine focus looks like the order of the day, which I'm into right now.

Moreover, there's a good pedigree to that bugbear of having coop and competitive modes. Turczi is pretty much the king of euro bots so the co-op might be good? Again, we'll see.

This one seems in my wheelhouse: space, thinky, Mindclash. I haven't tried Cerebria and didn't back Perseverance, but I quite like Trickerion and really like Anachrony, even though neither gets played as much as it might/ought.

Yeah, I'm probably in for this when it kickstarts. It'll actually get played here.

2nd design diary here:

The action sequence reminds me of Runewars rather than TI:3, and I like Runewars order system a lot

They aren't doing it due to language interchangability, but I wish they would put the fucking thematic names of the subactions on the cards too.

So first off, this is going to be a very euro game with icon soup for engine building. I'm here for it but this game layers procedure and process hard from their previews. If you're not interested in action efficiency I doubt this is for you.

There's also basically no exploration, so it's very funny they're trying to spin exploration as part of the game.

A post on the combat just went up yesterday. Everything about this game is appealing to me in concept but man oh man all of these design posts make this game look like a real symbol stew. For people that didn't like the iconography of RFTG, put away your wallets now! Also deterministic combat means I'll definitely be avoiding playing this with the Analysis Paralysis prone friends in my life.

Yeah, I am really waffling on this, it would be too much for my spouse with its hieroglyphs. Maybe I should just use the money to track down a full Anachrony box.

That looks like a game I would avoid on principle. Nothing there looks like anything I'd be interested in.

Just goes to show how different we all are.

The Kickstarter is now live and after watching a few teaches/plays the iconography is actually quite intuitive in context. The game looks beautiful but I'm still kind of on the fence. I appreciate that the deluxe edition is purely cosmetic in its differences.

I like the color scheme, but the pictures of games in progress make it seem like the table state will be dense with information, potentially leading to analysis paralysis.

I think inducing analysis paralysis is the basis of Mindclash Games's design ethos. To your point, I wonder if the standard cardboard ships will make things easier to visually parse than the (nice looking) miniatures. Having said that, I haven't watched late game play yet, but since ships seem to move at a pretty sedate pace, I don't think reading the board state from far away is much of a concern.

I think there's a full playthrough going up. I might glance at it.

I don't think most people on this site should back this. It's very euro point salad with limited punching each other. I'm still interested because I like bonkers euros but I think I'm going to need to play it to see how I really feel about it, if it's wild enough a la level 99 games or I'm told how Anachrony is.

All most of you all need to know is the game is decide based on a scoring track that has 3 digits.

I saw heavy cardboard had a playthrough up but then didn't watch it because it was 5+ hrs long. It's on the agenda to check out though.

The five hours is true but also deceptive, they go through the last two turns in like 1 1/2 to 2 hours if memory serves.

The icon soup and procedure of the first turn is what takes so long.
