agreed, i bought a bunch of boardgame apps over the years and just never play most of them. i have zero interest in playing these games with randos online, as it takes away the most fun part of boardgaming. i also have a hard time caring enough to play games against ai opponents. Through The Ages is the glaring exception, as I have a few people i know irl who i basically always have games going with, and we just trade turns back and forth. plus the challenge mode in it is extremely well done, as it changes fundamental rules and really forces you to reevaulate how you play challenge to challenge.

I have lots of boardgame apps, but the only one I play with any regularity is Ticket to Ride, and that not very much. The whole app thing has never worked for me very well. Removing the other people around a table makes board games way less interesting to me. TTR at least is done in like 10 minutes, and it's simple enough that I never need to relearn the whole thing.

Lots of good suggestions here already, but two more that I hadn't seen mentioned:
- Sentinels of the Multiverse
- Pathfinder Adventure Game
I've played the physical versions of both games, and don't ever see a need to do that again. Both games are way too long and cumbersome for what they offer. But as an app, where the device handles all the math, modifiers, etc, they are really fun games with a TON of replayability.

TTR is just straight up better as an app. The only TTR I want to play physically at this point is New York because 1) it's also 10 minutes and 2) taxis.

Avoid like the plague Dominant Species, the app is totally broken and bugged and devs have no interest in fixing it.
