I was fairly active in the Decatur, Al scene when SFII dropped in the early-90s. It was a great period in the arcades... learning the moves, trading notes with other players, etc. I got out around the Alpha era though, but still to this day fire up one of the SFII versions on the retro duo and still retain a soft spot for the classic SF II characters.

This was a fun documentary to watch. It was more on the fans than the games and that was an area I didn't know as much about. That Diago v Wong video I was familiar with though and it _still_ sends chills down my spine watching it. Simply amazing reflexes with all of those parrys (I played around a little with SFIII so know the techniques).

I'd like to see a documentary on the games too. I understand SFIII was too technical and leaned too much toward the hardcore set that it didn't do well with the casuals so wasn't a big seller. I'd like to hear some commentary on that as well as the creation of SF IV. I've played exactly 4 fights of SF IV at the arcade (don't have a modern console) and the local arcade was always crowded around the SF IV machines, so I assume it's doing ok/did well.

Thanks again for this, Doc!

(On a side note, I feel like Titan could be the boardgame equivalent - minus all the hot SF sales. Titan movement looks all random, like button mashing, but true masters have learned to control the masterboard in the sense that SF players control the screen space. I'm a proclaimed Titan mark though...)

I agree with you Jeff, I was hoping it would have been more about the game and the people behind it, I could care less about the collectors etc.
