I was going to say things like 'I hate genre fiction' or 'I hate anime' or 'I hate BSG'
and I kind of do. But I also see the joy in each of those and can find exceptions. I like some genre fiction and I've seen some good anime and I watched one season of BSG before giving up and I enjoyed myself here and there even if it was far too fucking serious for it's own good.
I've thought this over and looked at other people's lists.. I think I kind of like everything or at least understand how others do and no longer feel that my opinion on it is the correct one.
Like I said, the older I get the more full of shit I realize I am. I used to just answer people as if I knew the right answer... now I qualify everything unless I want to be offensive or funny or something like that.
What disqualifies me from geekdom.. lots of things. Tattoos, drugs, partying, a band, years hitch hiking and living on the road, fashion sense, super pretentious artsy interests.. people rarely see me as a geek first and are usually surprised to find out I am... that's because I've gone so far into worrying about looking pathetic (or undesirable) that I spend time on appearances that are probably a waste. It's superficial bullshit but I do it anyway. It has to do with my youth and how I was perceived in high school I think.
That said I really don't like fandom in general.. Firefly obsessed people, Trek conventions, SW conventions, Bronie bullshit etc... even though I like all of those things independently. I have learned that boardgame conventions might be fun since I did enjoy the small one that took place here. But I still don't feel anxious to do it again since my main problem is not liking crowds. Especially crowds with lots in common but any crowd will do. I always test as an extrovert but in reality I only like to hang out with small groups of people I already know and I love my alone time.

1) I am an avid motorcyclist. I ride a Harley now but people who give shit to people on other brands are pathetic. If it's got two wheels and a motor it's cool by me.
2) I was a professional car thief for years. Back in the day when you didn't use a tow truck but actually had to bypass the ignition and drive the car away. I've been chased at high speed and I've been shot at and I've had more knives pulled on me then I can remember. I've also taken more than one punch to the face and not swung back.
3) I have parachuted out of a perfectly good airplane. And not in some experts papoose as a lump of cargo. I jumped solo. It was the most exhilarating thing I've ever done.
4) I've known the touch of a woman.
5) I like what I like. I feel neither shame nor guilt. Powerpuff Girls? Love em. History? Love it. Board Games? Love em. Etc etc.

* Trek IV was fucking awful. That's the one with the vhales and nuclear wessels.
* I liked Prometheus.
* I've won fist-fights.
* I don't really like geeks.

I'm pretty sure it was just the palm of her hand and his cheek is the only part that even touched that.

-I have had sex and never had a problem getting girls.
-I am a proficient fighter, and I enjoy sparring immensely.
-I love to shoot, and own a great many guns.
-I have never had, nor will I have, a desire to own any medieval weapons, foam or otherwise.
-I have never said "Huzzah", for any reason.
-I started a rugby team of which I was the captain of the forwards.
-I do not enjoy "fantasy" books, aside from Conan.
-I have never tried to calculate the precise odds of any given die roll as guidance of an action.
-I shower daily and groom myself.
-I have a beard, but not on my neck.
-I view Magic: The Gathering as the largest mass illusion in the history of the world.
-Steampunk irritates me more than virtually anything else; not the old books' description of it, but rather people that walk around wearing the standard "hat with brass goggles". I think it's because they are conformist nonconformists, which is a form of hypocrisy, which I despise.
- I think Tabletop is mostly boring.

Depends on what the hand is shaking.

The older I get the more full of shit I realize I am. I used to believe in my opinions at one point. Now I can't be bothered.
The last three years have left me feeling like I don't know what matters any more.
Here are some things which either make me geeky or disqualify me:
- I hate the markup code for numbered lists
- I have watched and enjoyed "Castle"
- I think Star Wars is really more fantasy than anything else
- I'm selling off most of my boardgames
- I've only dabbled in comics, but love Atomic Robo and Red Son
- I have almost no adult friends and never will
- I have only had sex with one woman
- I ride a recumbent bicycle
- My beard, if left unchecked, could kill a small human
- I prefer The Americans to Daredevil
- I go to church
- I am narcissistic to the point of starting most sentences with "I"
- I prefer the flavor of geek weirdness described by Bruce Sterling here: pastebin.com/iR9pY77w
- I own guns, but no bullets
