Super Dungeon Explore

My buddy pointed this game out to me the other day and I thought I'd pass it along. It is a dungeon crawl miniatures game, so I'm sure not for everyone, but the rules seem fairly straight forward. I haven't had a time to read, just skim, but I thought y'all might be interested.

The models though I think look awesome. They are supposed to be modeled off of the old school 8-bit NES graphics where characters were pretty much heads with tiny bodies.

I wish!
I wish that I could buy it, or have the patience and desire to make it.

Oh wow, this looks great, has a great concept, and should be fun to play.

Too bad it's a miniatures game- won't paint, won't glue, won't build terrain.

Interest reduced to zero. :-(

Or you could look for this instead, and the minis are painted:

And it has blue slimes.

The minis appear to be Playmobil figures. What's the chance of ever coming across a copy of this game (1) in the US and (2) for under $300 (or $500 if Troll & Toad or Noble Knight)?

Haha I've had my eye on that Dragon Quest game for a while. It looks beautiful but seems like it's actually a real crap game.

I thought the same thing as Barnes when I first saw SDE a few months ago; boner city followed by the realization that I'd never have anything that looked even close to that good due to both a lack of investment and a lack of skill in modeling.

The Dragon Quest game is cute. It is more of a maze-solving game like the old Parker Brothers Pathfinder. Throw in some traps, two levels, treasure and a bit of fighting.

Nice family game. Not really a hobby/gamers game.

It does look as if copies dried up. For awhile, it was easy to find. I got one from a videogame importer.

If I dive deeper into the game, I'm just going to use the boards I have kicking around from HeroQuest and/or Hybrid. So that's done.

Painting models is NOT needed. This concept of having to paint models when the game is called a "miniature" game is just a load of BS. I have played and own a lot of miniatures, of which maybe 2% are painted. Likely a lot less than that. Unpainted miniatures has not diminished my enjoyment of any of those games. Painted models is just a nice bonus.

And come on, refusing to glue a few pieces? Sheesh! You going to bitch about punchboards next?

Sure, why not. Punchboards are stupendously wasteful, and given how fucking lazy and oblivious to the real world many gamers are, it breaks my heart to think that people are buying games like EARTH REBORN that have just about as much "flash" cardboard as components and just throwing away the waste instead of recycling it.

No, I'm not gluing a god damned thing, btw. No modeling whatsoever. That's an aspect of the hobby I am 100% completely disinterested in.

Who wants to paint my EARTH REBORN figures?
