Trashdome - TotAN vs Talisman

WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting on it. End your first post in this thread with the title of the game you're placing a bet on (i.e. voting for) so its clear to me when reading it later. You have until Sunday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. Counting expansions or not is entirely up to you just as playing with them or not is. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Tales of the Arabian Nights vs Talisman

I've never played Talisman. I've played TotAN twice. The first game was great for the first 2 hours and then got a bit stale towards the end. The second game was fucking horrendous. I'll never play it again.

I'll abstain from voting because I've not played both, but Talisman HAS to be better than TotAN.

Talisman by a huge margin. Way more player interaction, just as much (more?)variety, the turns around the table are much faster (as fast as it gets), there is a much more palpable racing aspect in Talisman which drives the action, the twists and reversals in the action are much more exciting.

Played TotAN twice, then sold it. It isn't a game, more of a story that everybody partakes in. Choices are basically meaningless, and there is little to no strategy that will lead to a consistent winning strategy. It was fun, but not a game I would like to own.

Talisman always seems interesting, but dear lord, I have a lot of fantasy games already and it's 50 expansions do nothing to endear it to me. Still, Talisman seems like a fun game, and as Stormseeker said, it HAS to be better than ToTAN/

Tales can be good fun, but I sure love me some TALISMAN. And who says Talisman doesn't create memories?

So what's the optional start-up rule that makes Talisman quicker and more tolerable?
I feel like I'm missing out on the Talisman love.

I don't get why you'd want to make it quicker. Talisman is a game you relax into like a comfy old rocking chair.
