Just realized the thread was gone. The new Devin Townsend Project albums are pretty badass so far though. Deconstruction is just insane. I haven't gotten to the mellow Ghost just yet.

A shame I won't be in town for their concert.

Not knowing a damn thing about it, can you describe the music a bit?

Hmm that is hard, and I'm no expert on Devin Townsend! He was mostly in extreme/progressive metal bands, Strapping Young Lad and Devin Townsend Band.

The Devin Townsend Project has consisted of 4 albums. I haven't heard the first two (yet). One is fairly mellow and the other more poppy.
The final two came out on Tuesday.

Deconstruction is very extreme and can go from crushing metal to orchestral beauty at any time. He also has some guest vocalists including Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth, the guy from Gwar and the guy from Dillinger Escape Plan. There are also female vocals and full choirs on some parts. It is a VERY dense album.
He also has a bit of a twisted sense of humor and there is a 16 minute song called The Might Masturbator, a song that starts out with farting and a song with lyrics about a hamburger.

Ghost is apparently much more mellow and zenlike. I'll listen to that some more in the car tonight.

A buddy of mine dated Devin's sister for years.. nice girl.

When she brought him home for dinner one night he met Devin. Wasn't a big fan of his music but was aware of his existence. Erin introduced Devin to Noel and the first thing Devin did was reach down and grab Noel's nuts and said "hello, nice to meet you".

Not everyday someone greets you that way.

Haven't heard his new project but I'm familar with Strapping Young Lad and I have one of his Japan only C.D.'s from The Devin Townsend Band.
