With vampires? Is nothing sacred?

What a terrible idea. Danny Torrance versus Salem's Lot. Maybe he can switch it up and have another book where Kurt Barlow stays a night at the Overlook Hotel.

We may have to come to terms one day with the fact that King is a hack.

Pheeew, I thought it was for the movie, that would suck hard.

This, not so much. King has a history of writing decent sequels and is also one of the few pop writers who can actually tell a good story. So I'll withold judgement for now.

It does sound like the story could have been set anywhere and didn't need to be a sequel, but I guess that will help increase sales.

Let the Right One In sounded idiotic but it was done allright. It's all about execution. I find a lot of Vampire movies or books sound awfull. Hell, I thought I Am Legend sounded bad too, but now I trust Richard Matheson. King has earned some trust as well, I say give him a bit of leeway.

but it's only a book, right? Seems fine. How many Star Wars sequels are there in the books?

If it turns out to be great, they can make it a movie. If not, it's a book that no one reads

I thought I heard they were psychic vampires. Which sounds to me less like blood drinkers or sparklers, more like dudes who want to leech Danny's powers...or something.

Psychic vamps, the shining and Stephen King? I'm in!

I wonder if it will be about the outreach (overlook? ugh too lazy to wiki) at all. When I first saw it I was thinking about the crazy stuff some vampires might start getting haunted by at the hotel, /shrug.. will wait and see.

He has a history of crossing characters and plot lines through other books, anyone read the Dark Tower series? Flagg, Pennywise, Father Callahan, the Low Men they all show up in here. Read his short stories and even some novels you'll see plenty of cross overs.

I'd bet if you're a King fan it'll be worth a read, if you're not it's a non issue.

Pennywise is in the Dark Tower? I read the first one years ago I think.. some fantasy novel by King anyway, I assume it's the only one? Never checked out the rest of the series - one day!

If it was fantasy it was probably The Eyes of the Dragon. The Dark Tower starts out with a Gunslinger named Roland chasing a guy through the desert. They're pretty good, but you have to have a high tolerance for King-isms. Lots of out of place talk about boners, pop culture references, he even writes himself, Stephen King, into the last few books. Whether or not they pay off I won't comment on, but yeah Pennywise is in the... last one if I remember correctly. Atleast, a shape shifting creature like the It monster, whether or not it's the same entity I don't recall. Wasn't a big part of the series, but it was there.

The Dark Tower series kind of establishes that most of his stories intersect with the Dark Tower universe so stuff can leak over between stories. This allows for some easter eggs and psuedo history you can dig for if you know/have the inclination to look for it. I like crap like that, extra info you can dredge up if you look for it.

This is Hollywood we are talking about. They WILL make the movie, regardless of quality.

Oh yeah - that sounds right, lol, I have heard of the Dark Tower, for some reason just assumed it was fantasy and related to the other thing I read (which I thought included a tower at some stage, but I was only like 12 when I read it so probably wildly wrong) - but your description of the dark tower actually has me intrigued now.. I haven't read a king book for a couple of years.. I loaned Cell or whatever his cell phone horror book was a few years back, wasn't bad.

Hmm... I must go home after work and either obtain a king book somehow or watch one of his terrible but fantastic telemovies.
