Captain Sisko DUI was created by repoman
Now this is a shame.

Not counting Kirk, Sisko was my favorite commander from the later incarnations of Star Trek. He was smooth and charming but had a temper and would punch you in the face if you pushed him just a little too far.

Although, having watched a portion of "Captains" a sort of interview/documentary with Shatner profiling the other actors who played captains in Star Trek, he is really a bit creepy and/or loony.

Don't worry, this was Avery Brooks that was charged with the DUI, not the actual commanding officer of DS9. So don't worry, he's still bada$$ and probably doesn't take the Defiant out for a joyride when he's filled up on Romulan Ale with Morn at Quark's.

and how the heck isn't Picard you're favourite? he's the bEST

Some simple math:

Sisko > Picard

Barney = Wrong

There is a season 3 Next Gen episode where Worf refuses to give blood to a dying Romulan to prevent a diplomatic incident, and Picard refuses to force him, so the Romulan dies (and diplomatic incident is narrowly averted by Geordi).

It always struck that this was a key difference between the two leaders. Sisko would never have put up with that shit. He would have had 10 security officers hold Worf down and forcefully drained his blood. Picard was a great leader and loyal to his crew but he never had to live with the consequences of his decisions as the ship could piss off to the next planet. Sisko was always willing to take the darker "It's for the greater good" path, as if he fucked up he had to live with all the nasty consequences of shit going wrong.

yep, and that's one of the many reasons I like Picard better.

Maybe it's like the Walking Dead and Picard is Rick and Sisko is Shane

The town he got pulled over in, Wilton, used to be a dry town when I lived near there 20 years ago. A DUI is about as much excitement as they ever get.

Sisko rocked. Easily the most badass captain in Trekdom.

Sisko better than Picard? Don't let repoman drive home, or he'll be sharing the cell next to the man.

Here's how I imagine the empires outside of the federation view the Star Trek captains:

Kirk: Feared. He'll drop a photon torpedo and take your women.

Picard: Ridiculed. How many times did the Borg assimilate him? Why was Q able to dick around his ship all the time?

Sisko: Respected. He was looked to for guidance and leadership and how about that time he clobbered Q? The first and _last_ time Q tried his shenanigans on DS9. "You hit me! Picard never hit me!"

(Sorry, Voyager and Enterprise I have no knowledge of)

well of course Kirk and Sisko would be more respected by the enemy and other cultures, they're total war-mongers. If Duras ruled the Klington empire, he'd be far more feared by other empires than Gowron. This doesn't make Kirk/Sisko better than diplomatic Picard. Picard is better for the federation based on the time period he was in (peace, mostly). In YESTERDAY'S ENTERPRISE, i think the single hardest thing to believe in that episode is that Picard is the ranking officer on the Enterprise D when the federation is at war with the Klingon Empire. No way. Picard is not a military leader. That other harda$$ played by the badguy from ROBOCOP would likely be captain of the Enterprise or something.

One thing they got right is Sisko's hatred of Picard in the first DS9. I thought that was handled very realistically. There's no way that the entire federation emphasizes with Picard's ordeal there. Tons of them think to themselves, "Why didn't he just fight back?"

I can't respect a guy named after cheap booze.

Although, Cisco will give you a 2-day hangover, I hear.

And FWIW, Kirk would Judo chop the shit out of Sisko before sodomizing his girl and wiping his DS9 off on Sisko's curtains. Picard would sodomize Sisko while he was unconscious, and likely PICKED OUT Sisko's curtains.
