Ow. That man was visionary and someone that the comic aficionados of my generation lionized. I was transported by his Taarna segment in Heavy Metal. Just watching her fly past those giant skeletons with buildings and structures inside them demonstrated how far-reaching his vision was. Bummer.

He had been ill for a long time, hope he gets some rest.

He's one of my all-time favorite SF/fantasy illustrator, I prefer him over Frazetta. His design sense is just incredible. The look of Metal Hurlant is largely indebted to him.

You can see his work in a lot of movies- Tron, Alien, The Fifth Element, The Abyss...he also did some amazing work for the unproduced DeLaurentis/Jodorowksy Dune. He did a totally androgynous Feyd Rautha that was just awesome.

Would that board game illustrators imitated Moebius rather than Larry Elmore, Anime, and Magic Cards...

I didn't even realize this could really be in question.

It's criminal that neither Blueberry nor the Airtight Garage nor much of anything besides his collaborations with Jodorowsky are readily available, especially in this golden age of reprints.

agreed, when is the Airtight Garage going to get an English colour reprint? There is a good version of the incal out now though, hard back and everything. Also Arzach, but that's language independent.

RIP Moebius
