These are interesting to look over again. Anything change for you?

I added Advanced Civilization to my top 5 Ameritrash and dropped BSG.

F:ATties Five Favorites - Ameritrash

F:ATties Five Favorites - Eurogames

F:ATties Five Favorites - Wargames

THREE YEARS AGO!!! That's not fair I look like a fool.

Yeah, everything changes on mine. Or a lot anyway. The AT list is mostly different now.

1/ Runewars
2/ Earth Reborn
3/ Nexus Ops
4/ Space Hulk
5/ Survive

In no particular order... I can't believe I had LNoE on there. What was I thinking. The other lists are a little different too, wargames has improved a bit and been beefed up and I dropped Steam for Railways of the World and Dominion for Greed Inc. in my Euro list.

I dropped Space Hulk for Incursion. It gets played more and I like the theme better. Only one I felt strongly enough about to change.

In all my years of browsing this site, I've never seen these top five threads. I guess I only view Trash Talk in the default most recent activity, so I miss the sticky threads unless there is activity. What a shame, I'm glad someone posted something!

Just updated my lists, but without any surprising upsets or anything. Just new or new-to-me games edging out the bottom choices.

EDIT: Economic games are not Eurogames? But Galaxy Trucker and Dungeon Twister count as Euros? I guess I don't know what's what.

My note about economic games is how I classify them. Loosely, I'd call an economic game a game where money is both the goal and the main currency, and also features some sort of fluctuating stock or commodity market. I find this sort of design has more in common with american economic games of the 60's and 70's than euro games of the 90's and 00's. It's a broad label that I apply both to Merchant of Venus and 1830, though I find it much more narrow than the euro label, which is often a catchall for non-trash/war games.

2 games new to me in (Merchant of Venus and King of Tokyo), and 2 oldies out (fell out of love with Runebound and my feelings for Space Hulk comes and goes in waves, and currently is down).

Big changes to my lists.

Ameritrash was:
DungeonQuest
Cosmic Encounter
Talisman
Minion Hunter
Wrasslin'

Ameritrash now:
Castle Ravenloft
Minion Hunter
Dungeon
Nexus Ops
Martian Rails

Wargames were:
Crusader Rex
Hammer of the Scots
Shogun (Samurai Swords)
Mega-Mania
BattleCry

Wargames now:
Titan
Hammer of the Scots
Manoeuvre
Block/Mega Mania
War of 1812

Eurogames were:
Settlers of Catan
Battle Line
Ivanhoe
LotR: Confrontation
Beowulf: The Legend

Eurogames now:
Settlers
Condotierre
Zooloretto
Battle Line
Ticket to Ride

Naturally, there's category confusion though. Is the FFG Warrior Knights and Game of Thrones ameritrash, wargame, or euro? Are table top minis games like Wings of War or Dystopian Legions ameritrash or wargames? What about Nexus Ops, Titan, or Block Mania all could be ameritrash or wargames as well.

My classification of games is pretty much arbitrary, and I'm okay with that. I think of Imperial as Ameritrashy because it is so dynamic, it has a clear theme that is connected to the mechanics, and you can use armies to directly mess with people's plans. But I also see it as a euro because it's about investment, not conquest.

The classifications are just general tendencies in design, and sometimes games are clear examples of those tendencies, other times they are not.

PS thanks Stormcow, I edited the OP

I was really new to AT at the time, so my AT list from back then included two games that I have since gotten rid of (Middle Earth Quest and War of the Ring). Time makes fools of us all, I guess.
