It is! And what's more, I was recently gifted a copy by a member of a local gamebook forum so it currently sits on my shelf radiating malevolence and biding its time until I take the plunge again.
Is this a link to scanned issues of Proteus?? I'm definitely into that! I never saw Iceman, not sure if it made its way to Australia but I'm down for anything Mills worked on. Thanks man!

Oh man, these links are a goldmine. Thank you! I'm already contemplating printing and binding the whole run of Proteus. The art is such an awesome trip.

While we're on the subject, my favourite from the Diceman run is the now positively archaic yet still disturbingly relevant satire "You are Ronnie Reagan" in issue five. Be the president of the United States! Try not to let your popularity drop, inadvertently cause WWIII, or give the game away by your behaviour appearing to be too sane. Mills and Emerson then followed up with a longer form book "You are Maggie Thatcher" - I cannot find a trustworthy PDF but it is available fairly cheaply on eBay and
Amazon
, highly recommended for anyone interested in the niche of 1980s political satire in the format of an easily digestible comic gamebook.

Oh my god, I absolutely need both of those. Especially the Thatcher one. 2000AD (along with MAD Magazine) was pretty instrumental in my political education from a stage before I even knew what politics was. The cynical exasperation has not dimmed, alas, but remains a decent coping mechanism.

Hey Shelley,
Long time no speak! Apologies for my absence from the site/forums. I experienced a pretty severe bout of burnout after working on a couple of games and albums, combined with some intense post-covid symptoms (recently had my second bout) which left me pretty bereft of energy and inspiration so I've been laying low and biding my time between projects. I keep meaning to pick up the pen again (so to speak) but day job and other responsibilities are eating up most of my bandwidth at the moment. I'm being flown out to Croatia in March to work on a new title that should hopefully come to fruition in 23 or 24 though, so hopefully this gets me back on track. I still lurk and check out the site but my tastes have shifted pretty firmly towards historical and political games so other rabbit holes haves beckoned. Hope all is well on your end. I'll endeavour to be more active here cos I miss ya'll.
