There are fans for everything. Also, I'm guessing that the races in this version will be a bit more intuitive to people who have played Warcraft. hopefully making it a bit more accessible to them.

I don't have any numbers, but I'm willing to bet that WoW is still more than popular enough to justify something like this.
For my own part I still think of Warcraft as an RTS series first and foremost, and from that perspective I think this is kind of a brilliant piece of corporate synergy. No one needs licensed games, but this is a license that I feel makes a lot of sense.
