* What valuable thing did you lose?
My last excursion I attempted to break a new trail through one of the Hvitr’s unnamed passes, rock slide nearly cost me a leg. Despite only suffering minor physical injuries, my snowshoes were damaged beyond repair. They had been bequeathed to me by my father who claimed they were blessed by Nuujva the Goddess of the Hunt.
* What doom is said to await those who dare climb Hvitr’s Horn?
Many have claimed that the mountain is a tomb for one of the great beasts of the ancient times. Its power extends beyond the mortal conceptions of death and it continues to gather the souls of those unfortunate enough to fall within its influence.
* Bond: I blame Brother Thunke for losing that thing I valued.
While I’m not quick to believe the promises of salvation or damnation offered by those who claim to speak with the Gods, I’ve seen too much that is unexplainable to not accept that they possess greater powers in some regard. Can it be coincidence that a mysterious stranger arrives and is seeking the very place that is seemingly the cause of the town’s recent troubles? This has convinced me his arrival is a bad omen, likely the cause of my recent misfortune and the sign of more to come.

* What is the name of your tavern?
The Twin Trout. While many mistakenly attribute the name to the tavern’s delicious signature dish, its origin is actually based on an old chantey and has a brought a smile to several visiting sailors.
* What friend or family member has recently gone missing?
Bergfinn is the cook at the Trout and a close friend. If I had disappeared he would not sit idly by, out of respect and a bit of admiration for him I have joined this climb.
* Bond: I am bound to Arkif because he is my brother.
I’m close to my brother and it has not been rare for him to spend time at the tavern long after all the other patrons have left. Despite this I feel he never completely opens up and lately I’ve seen him less and less.

Yamir, after my beloved father and once well-regarded former Council of Elders member ,when he lived. He was widely known for both his strength and empathy. His eternal furrowed brow belied his humour and infectious laughter.
* Who among your number would make the best leader?
Without a doubt, that would be Arkif. Despite rumblings of a dark past, (which I dismiss as hen-like gossip), he has never abused his role as Meervold’s constable and has always been a just man.

Ligri owes me a kiss as befits our custom during an elder’s birthday.

* Who is your deity?
Nyabja the Tireless or Nyabja The Seeker
* Why is Hvitr’s Horn a holy site for your deity?
Lore has is it, Af the MotherFather, gave birth to Nyabja and Her twin brother Jep in the Deep Caves of Tuk. Horrified that HerHis offspring were in fact two separate beings, unlike Af and HerHis predecessors, Shehe grabbed Nyabja by Her lifecord and threw Her with all HerHis strength to the West and and unto Jep the same but to the East. In a fit of madness Af cursed HerHis abominations to the fate that no matter how far or wide they search for each other, it would never come to pass.
Nyabja landed at the top of the Cradle (or as the People of Meervold call Hvitr’s Horn) and was reared by both the flora & fauna until her 6th year., when She left the Cradle, in Her fruitless search for Her twin on The Endless Journey.
The Cradle is a sacred place to all followers of Nyabja.

On that note, Gary Sax is the only player not to chime in with answers yet. I'm going to go ahead and post everyone's stats. Write all this stuff in on the character sheets linked to above. Also note that each character has a few items of starting gear, but each player has one random item (listed after your name). Choose which of your two characters starts with this item and write it down on that character's sheet. You don't have to report your choice here, just make sure you wrote it down. No one in Meervold can argue that, despite the fact that she is often covered in clay from her work as the village potter, Jorda is among the more physically attractive residents. Her constant naysaying and generally pessimistic outlook keeps people from getting to close, though, even though she is wise beyond her years.
* What friend or family member has recently gone missing?
Jorda's grandmother is one of the few kin left in the village, they are very close. Jorda arrived here with her immediate family and her grandmother many years ago as refugees from elsewhere, carrying only what they could fit on a mule. Jorda does not know why the family left, and her family has been tight lipped on the subject. Meervold can be a tight knit, backwards community, unwelcoming to strangers, and Jorda has never really trusted anyone but her grandmother since her parents passed away from a malady that swept the village.
* What is your prediction of the outcome of this dangerous undertaking?
Given Jorda's... sunny disposition, her prediction is that virtually everyone on this trip is likely going to die. Call it a premonition. Despite that, her instinct is to push ahead anyway, since she has no friends in the village and she considers herself one of the more talented members of the village. She doesn't have to run the fastest, just run faster than the slowest villager, right?
* Bond: Gera has much to teach me about anger.
Gera's instinctive knowledge of and talent with people serves as a constant frustration for Jorda, who generally sits on the sidelines in social situations at the tavern and watches the tavern owner work crowds.
Solvi,
like his fellow woodswoman Illaudga, is a person of no words. No one knows whether he was born mute, or simply chooses not to speak. Living in the wild has not helped his frail constitution. Someone saw him juggle three handaxes once when he thought no one was watching.
* What vow have you taken, and why?
When he was young, Solvi vowed to pull himself from poverty and become wealthy. As a mute from birth, there are few avenues to fulfill that vow, however---it's difficult to swindle a man you cannot speak to. Solvi has attempted all sorts of schemes and continuously failed. Solvi's skill in the woods is his last, best chance for riches. The local woods are filled with strange things that city folk will pay a great deal for... but he is trading his already poor health for his pursuit.
* What did you see in the woods close to the Forsaken Fell?
Solvi specializes in finding expensive wood burls and selling the best of them, twice a year, to a woodworker in a nearby city/town. Since burls are rare, this means that Solvi travels every inch of the forests in this and nearby regions. While searching near the Forsaken Fell, Solvi discovered a remarkable valley, near the Forsaken Fell, where everything grew larger than normal---trees hundreds of feet high, 20 foot tall bears, birds the size of a man.
* Bond: Valga must forget about his/her lost love.
