You're probably aware of all the furore over the new L4d downloadable content that was promised and not really delivered. And the bugs that still persist after a year, e.g. the stats inaccuracies and the stutter/freezes, because they were working on L4d2 instead. It was thought they might offer a discount for owners of L4d to apologise for this, but they haven't. I also noticed that apparently, if you don't pre-order L4d2 before it's released, they will then cripple the baseball bat, i.e. it's not available. Oh, and their help/support staff clearly couldn't care less. For those reasons I won't be buying this one unless there's a substantial discount. Except . . . can I really stand to play a game that features something as utterly moronic as the Jockey?

We had major lag too on the dedicated servers. My buddy with a fast connection hosted instead and we were basically lag free. Maybe they weren't expecting the response they got.

The weapons are cool. Laser sights, ammo mods, melee weapons, sniper rifles that are useful on the 360...I love that ammo is a bit more scarce too. Gives you more of a reason to switch it up.

Again, I'm going to plug www.agerocks.com . We have a L4D2 game night on Mondays (though you'll be able to find multiple games most nights) and a L4D2 Friends of Friends list. Everyone is very welcoming and no BS. Never play L4D with the AI or general public again.

We also have game nights for Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3, Gears of War 2, NHL 10, a forum dedicated to people looking for co-op buddies, and regular tournaments and leagues.

My tag is Nick War if you want to game or get more info, though I'll be spending the next couple days prepping for a one-night Modern Warfare 2 tourney.

OK, last night there wasn't any lag, and it was awesome. Looks like they ironed out the kinks.

Played through "Dead Center", what a crazy campaign! The hotel stuff is nuts, going through the fire is pretty scary stuff. I really like that the end isn't just the usual "stay here and shoot until help comes" thing.

Played some of "Swamp Fever" too...some good stuff in that one as well.

I need to check out AgeRocks...that sounds like the perfect remedy for playing with whiny children.

Love Dead Center too. Very fun for the versus on the 3rd and 4th maps with the wide open areas and multiple levels. I expect to see some crazy hunter pounces in time.

I sent you a friend request. I'll invite you to some pick-up AGE games when I see you on so you can check it out.

Yeah, walking on the window ledge is fantastic when a Jockey catches you. :-|

I still haven't played versus yet.

I think the game is actually a little too hard on normal, but maybe that's because I'm fairly inexperienced. The first one I liked the harder difficulties, but in the new one I'm finding that they're more frustrating than challenging.

You will love versus. It's so satisfying to pull off a coordinated attack with the special infected. You start to figure out all sorts of combos. Even though it's a FPS, the structure of the versus mode reminds me of a good asymmetric board game.

We played through Dead Center on Advanced (all experienced with the first game). It took over 2 hours. We killed something like 3500 regular zombies and over 100 special infected. You might see 1500, 50 split in any of the first game's campaigns as you may remember. Combine that with the special infected that prevent stacking, the more open areas, and variant effects and it feels quite a bit more challenging.

We finished the Dark Carnival last night, the old tactics do not work at all. The finish on the stage is awesome, even though it's a static timed horde situation, you need to keep moving around the area.

We also all feel terrible at the game now, still remembering how to do what we want fast enough. It seems I'm all over the friendly fire, run in front of me and you're getting shot haha.

I crashed early last night, but I don't get out of class until 10 tonight and should be on a bit after that.

I played a bit of the scavenge vs last night and it's awesome, even though playing with some randos we never won. I'd love to get a good 8 people on and really shred it.
