At the FLGS closest to me, the manager runs his own Star Wars campaign. His preference is the WEG version, and that's saying something since he's surrounded by D20 stuff at work all day.

So I've been playing a lot of Lego Star Wars on Wii this past week and starting to get into Knights of the Old Republic on PC, and with BioWare's announcement of an upcoming KOTR MMO I'm getting more interested in the Star Wars RPG.
What else can you tell me about the Saga edition? What races are playable? What are the classes like?

d6 Star Wars All the Way! Anything else is D&D on Tatooine. d6 is such a malleable system. d6 is so cinematic and well-suited to the SW universe.

I love the West End Games D6 version - in my opinion it's way better than the Saga edition which just seems too .... statty... to me. One of my mates recently ran us through the Darkstryder campaign (at least, I think that's what it was called). It was awesome.
With the collectible miniatures game it's generally pretty cheap to buy specific 'common' miniatures from on-line stores too, if you're into using models in RPGs.

D20 star wars didn't really work- character classes stink for star wars and the system is overall too combat oriented for a star wars campaign. I played in a campaign of it and had fun, but it is ill-suited to the setting. I haven't played the old west end star wars system. I ran a brief star wars campaign using Space HERO. It works very well because there is a lot of noncombat skills and a lot of areas for people to specialize in that isn't jedi-related.
In the several star wars campaigns we had, we never had a problem integrating the non-jedi PCs, mostly because the GMs ran story arcs where there were always things the jedis could not do. If the Jedi has enough skill points (or whatever your RPG system uses) to be able to fly the ship, repair the ship, have contacts across the galaxy, etc. and still be a jedi, your system is undervaluing the light sabre and force skills. Skywalker needs his Han Solo, Chewie, etc. Plus the Jedi can only be in one place at a given time, AND he has the disadvantages, prejudices, etc. that go along with being a jedi.

Speaking of d6 Star Wars, I've got nearly everything for it. I've run all of the modules.
I'm thinking about running them again, but zombified.
As prep for the module, I'll roll %-dice for EVERY NPC. Any NPC that comes up a 00 (a 1% chance) is not zombified.
The missions will remain the same, just a little altered due to the circumstances.
I've also got special rules for zombie hit locations.
