MedioEvo Universalis
From the title ii sounds like you've been inspired bij Europa Universalis, the French mammoth game. Is it just a homage, or does it share mechanisms and ideas?

Ciao Jur
I don't know boardgame Europa Universalis, I know it on PC game.
Well, my prototype is a management boardgame set in the XIII century, so I use "MedioEvo" refer to the historical period and "Universalis" refer to the management boardgame, but it has a looong development history:
- It all began in the 80's when we began to look for something bigger than risiko:
www.medioevouniversalis.org/phpBB3eu/vie...php?f=6&t=1263#p2260
- So we began to create a new game using parts of boardgames we had at home:
www.medioevouniversalis.org/phpBB3eu/vie...php?f=6&t=1264#p2261
there was trade, battles and a very big deck with cards attack and defense and some disasters.
We played this version for 5 years and we added more combo, components, cards and rules taking ideas from our imagination and from other boargames and first PC games
- Then, in 1999, I decided to review the whole game and give it a logical and new graphics... to create this version I played all PC games like Age of Empire, Medieval Total war, Europa universalis and so on, I read many manuals and so on.

We played this version for other 5 years
- In 2007 I decided to show my prototype, so I started an historical search and I replaced all the parts of the original boardgames with pieces made by me or bought:

I didn't mean to imply you somehow copied that game, but since the name and scope of the game are similar I thought it might have inspired you.
You may want to look it up sometime. It is very close to the computer game, in detail as wel as theme. Imagine playing that as a board game. A friend of mine was in a group that took several years to finish it.
It is fully counter based rather than miniatures, so your fame wins on appearance and playing time.
Looking at your site I was surprised to see it had gone through a Napoleonic phase as well. Cool to ser a game change so profoundly over the years.
Do you plan on going to Essen this year? There might be a few people here happy to try it out

The aim of the game is to gain Honor Point... many things inside game allow to gain or LOSE Honor Point... so we could play only 2 hours, or set a cap of Honor Point, or play 20 rounds... there is ALWAYS a winner.
Yes, this prototype had 2-3 years of Napoleonic phase because I loved it and I have many parts for that period (3x www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/3518/napoleon-in-europe ready to use in my prototype)... but I want create a map for 10 players to play to all my friends and unfortunatly during Napoleonic period there wasn't 10 equilibrate factions.
I'd go to essen, but too much expensive for my "little" boardgame
I think better to prepare a book with some photos and try to talking with publishers.
I'm not ready at 100%... I want fix some little errors about Heraldry (lion of Norway withowt crown) and territories (Reign of Navarra wasn't on the sea); I want write all RANDOM EVENTS telling about William Wallace, Marco Polo, Carlo D'angiò, Dante Alighieri and so on (now the events are not historical).
