I bought broodwar because I have a only played twice starcraft. There is just 0 way I can turn down a 10 dollar plus 10 dollar shipping expansion, despite my lack of plays.

The road to a collector begins...

I got Brood War and World of Warcraft: The Adventure Game. Everyone says that Brood War solves the few issues I have with the base game. And although I was lukewarm on it in my review, I've regretted trading WoW: TAG ever since I let it go. It fills a particular niche and I'm glad to be getting it back.

In another couple of weeks, depending if they're still left, I'm going back in for Android and some WoW: TAG character packs. Need to take everyone else in my family first before I go all selfish Santa here.

I know! I'm torn.

Shipping Brood War to my house (in Toronto) costs more than $20. Still, $30-$35 for Brood War is a good deal.

And I can fit the parts from Brood War into the StarCraft box, right? So it's not like the expansion will take up more shelf space, right?!?

Please help me rationalize the purchase of another game I don't need.

Buy more shit to rationalize the shipping cost (like I did for last year's sale) and you'll be alright. I've seen pics on BGG where people have the whole thing in one box but the little boxes I'm sticking player's pieces in means I'm leaving something out.

Not to mention that's it's just a fucking awesome expansion.

Yeah, but for me it's sodding $40 postage! Which makes it $50 = £32. Add £5.60 VAT and it's the same price as a non-sale copy over here. EXCEPT there's also an £8 handling fee that Royal Mail / Parcelforce charge. So to make it the same price as a normal copy over here they'd have to put it in the sale at £2 = $3!

Put another way, fucking USPS fucking shipping charges fucking sucks!!
Do I make myself clear? ;)

Brood War makes a great game better, but judging from various Trashdomes and other discussion not many F:ATies play Starcraft so I don't see the point in recommending the expansion.

That does seem to be the case. It's been a while since I've played it myself, but I'd rank it as one of my favorite games. ZERG RUSH motherfuckers.

I remember reading here that Barnes LIKED AoC, even if few people did.

Give your kids a character pack for Xmas. Seriously if you got WOW:TAG you want the character packs, they increase the replayability a hundred fold.

I was going to to a blog post on this but as always didn't have the time, so here is my quick list of what people should get in order (run down the list till you hit your budget) if you have good taste like me:

Warrior Knights + expansion !!!!
Brood war (if you have star craft)
Warcraft expansion (if you have warcraft)
LOTR:TC Delux.
Android
Wow:TBG expansions (shadow over crusade, if you have WOW:TBG)
WoW:TAG + character packs (all of em!)
Micro Mutants
Blue moon decks you aint got
Cave Troll
Age of Conan
LOTR expansion (if you have LOTR)
Atlanteon

If I didn't own it already thats what I'd get.

How about Moto Grand Prix ? What's the word on that one? $70 marked down to $25. I ended up getting this for a guy that got stood up on Secret Santa last year and I damn near bought a copy for myself as well.

Moto Grand Prix is a great little racing game. Tracks are built using pieces, so you can customize your own or use the 10 or so patterns they give you. You move rolling 2d6 that you can flip to change the numbers. I enjoy it, and for $25 you could do a lot worse. It's a Nexus game that FFG published.

I liked Moto Grand Prix as well. We played through a series of races over a month and everyone enjoyed it well enough. Worth $25 I would say.
