I love MiniMonFa. In fact I believe Rliyen did a write up a few years ago on here that made me decide to pick up my copy. It's a fun take that game, with great illustrations, and fun interactions. The expansions definitely add some great cards to the mix, so you should pick those up while you are at it.

It is my GF's eldest daughter's favorite game to play when I visit them.

Not that I need to clear it up but I wanted to make everyone aware that I liked it knowing what I was getting into: I knew the game was not about Conan, but in the _world_ of Conan. It was a war game to me and I like war games.

Also, I did not like the Conan mechanic and think it added at least a half hour to the game length. I like the idea of what Conan could do but thought there could have been better ways to implement it.

I went into Conan with rather lowered expectations after reading the rules. And the best I can say about it is that it isn't awful.

The Conan angle, however, is definitely the weakest point. It is almost as if Nexus was working on a multiplayer version of War of the Ring system, picked up the Conan license, and decided to marry the two...badly. The War of the Ring system is nice, and the way that you march into territories to take things is the really good part of the game.
