Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome - Dune vs Cosmic Encounter

I don't know, but there will be blood. We already have cat-in-box pictures.

Trashdome tries to appease the crowd with tough matches that make the decision of who to bet on difficult. And this fight is a great indication that its working. We're roughly in the middle and there is no clear winner here yet. But this is Trashdome so in the end there can be only one.

Let me know if I miscounted anyone. Its sometimes difficult to tell who you're betting on or even if you're betting. Thanks to everyone who makes it easier by writing it clearly at the end of their post. :-)

So, an 8 to 8 tie? Better calculate Barnes's vote now!

oh wait - 8.5 to 8.5

OK, I'm no good at addition.

Put my vote in for DUNE. Jeff Harkonnen swayed me.

You forgot 1 vote for Descent.

No changing of votes allowed, you'll have to stay sitting on your euro-fence.
(So we can continue mocking you.)

No, it's simple. I clearly have Barnes listed as one of my four traitors. Give his vote for Dune and continue to mock him. Just be sure to give him his participation trophy and the paper that says everyone is a winner.

Jeff Harkonnen

If DUNE and COSMIC finish within one vote of each other, it really is like a Eurogame. Particularly if it turns out the winner didn't know how to play.

Dune here. I love Cosmic to death, but Dune plays out as an epic narrative, and there is no more satisfying victory to be had in any game, anywhere, than the predicition victory of the Bene Gesserit.

In the end it's got to be Dune, although Cosmic seems like it might be a better value in gaming for a lot of people (quicker, doesn't need as many, more accessible and still great fun). But Dune is so epic.

Vote: Dune

Oh, and can I request Starcraft vs. A Game of Thrones for the next Trashdome matchup?

I'm going to use the power of upset here. The winner of Trashdome loses and the loser wins.

Vote: Cosmic

The votes must flooow.... to DUNE.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cosmic, but not as nearly as much as Dune.

I think Tom has it. DUNE is AT. It really does embody the best of what AT represents on pretty much every level and it has a specificity, a concreteness, that COSMIC doesn't have. I think that's as good an argument as any.
