Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome - WotR CE VS Settlers of Catan CE

Kicking off the new Trashdome license from Mad Dog:

Let's say you had 400 dollars, and both games were available to buy, which would you get?

I'm voting for WotR CE, and actually got it because of the limited edition-ness of it, but my brother has actually expressed interest in getting the SoC Collector's Edition in the future.

I've played a lot of Settlers Of Catan and still enjoy it even though my friends seem to be done with it. I'm also a fan of C&K. Initially I liked the idea of upgrading my well-used copy of the game for a deluxe version until I saw it. I'm probably in the minority, but I didn't like the 3D tiles at all. They just don't look fun to play with. It does have a cool looking box though.
War Of The Ring on the other hand comes in a box so large that when you're close enough to open it all you see is box. The deluxe components add to the game perhaps because its already so thematic. And I think all of them look great and well thought out.

Vote: WotR CE

I would totally go for War of the Ring: CE as I am a big Tolkien nerd.

Vote: WOTR.

WOTR:CE is more playable than the standard edition. That isn't the case with settlers.
WOTR is a game I like more than settlers.
WOTR:CE's book box functions better as a piece of lounge art than the settlers chest does, in my opinion.

Both are nice tho.

If I had the money, I'd get WotR CE in the blink of an eye.

Settlers. These things are more works of art than games, and I think Settler's broader recognition makes it the better piece. If I had the room to display it I'd likely have already gotten a copy.

Settlers is the better game. My $400 would get more use out of Settlers.

Easy choice.

Vote for WotR: it looks like it would be harder to actually play on the 3D Catan as colours are not as obvious and placement may get tricky, whereas WotR looks like it makes it easier to play.

For me, this question is not hypothetical. I *did* buy Settlers 3-D, and passed on The War of the Ring Collectors' Edition.

It would be nice, though, if the improved board, cards, and rules from WotR CE eventually found their way into a non-collectible War of the Ring: Legible Edition. I have no interest in the painted figs, the wood box, or the hardcover rulebook.

VOTE: Settlers CE

Everyone who votes for Settlers should have their Ameritrash licenses revoked.
(Except you, Juniper. You have a cute dog).

I like Settlers, but the CE version does nothing for me. Now the WoTR CE looks sharp.
