Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome: Fury of Dracula vs. Arkham Horror

ARKHAM HORROR is a 10. Case closed. Every game is different, the expansions are just mindblowing, and the game is such a blast. I took four guys through their first ARKHAM game last night and it was a hoot. All this bad shit kept happening and they just couldn't believe it. Gugs were fucking up their enforcers, a gate to the Abyss stayed open through three turns of trying to close it, Chthonians from across the board were bonging their Stamina. One guy was just cracking up, "This is not CANDYLAND." Great time. They even pulled off a win! Closing all the gates and having more trophies than players. Ended it with one big triple close turn. Very cool.

FURY OF DRACULA is the world's best version of SCOTLAND YARD.

Two things I don't like much in FoD:
- combat: die vs. die? It's hard to get more random. A MEQ-inspired deck would do wonders.

Yep - completely agree. I (as Drac) won a few more rolls last night but they were the important ones (FANGS winning instead of a Dodge vs Dodge). Dice are still preferable but maybe a few more modifiers or different dice.

Both are great games, love them both. But Arkham has more variety, more stuff that can happen, and greater variance from game to game.

I only like games where everyone can hug at the end.

I won't ever hug anyone who makes me play Fury of Dracula.

I have never tried FoD, but it's on my to do list. However, it will never beat Arkham Horror which shines in so many ways. I'm especially impressed with how much the writers manage to convey in so few words (especially in the Other Worlds encounters).

Vote: Arkham Horror.

I own and enjoy both, but Arkham Horror really captured my imagination and for me it is the winner because of the different stories it can tell. FoD feels more like the same story being retold each play.

I love both of these games but AH will get the nod just because it hits our gaming table way more often. With all the expansions available you can custom tailor the game to suit your tastes.
