Any weekend game plans?

Had a Gary Gygax Memorial Games Night yesterday. We were initially supposed to play D&D, but the person who was going to DM it had other obligations to deal with, so no dice there. So, we ended up at my house, and played a rousing game of Feng Shui. To honor Gygax, one of the players said, "Hey, I know we don't normally do this, but after the fight let's loot the bodies!!" After the laughing subsided, we decided that we would do that.

An added bonus was one of my co-worker's husband came over to "audit the class" and ended up deciding to play. Score!

Finally, in the waning hours of the get together, we played the game that truly distilled the "LOOT THE BODIES!" mentality down pat.

We played Munchkin.

And we enjoyed he hell out of it...

Thanks for all the well wishers.

She isn't a gamer, and that's OK! She has her hobbies and I have mine. The downside is that the wedding has severely curbed my game purchases this season. So it'll be nice when it's a done deal! ;)

Okay, I guess you're married by now, Chappy.

How'd things go? And where was the honeymoon?

This weekend was the Dallas Games Marathon. It's a monthly gig, a guy that works at a design firm clears out their storage are, loads it up with tables and chairs, and has open gaming Friday thru Sunday. About 30 people when it's full, plenty of space, good snacks and drinks are provided the whole time out of the $10 admission.

There's always weird euros being played but there's enough AT and wargames happening to make it worthwhile. This month's tournament was Roborally. Pandemic is pretty hot, it was being played constantly. There's usually a 6-payer Arkham Horror game but it didn't happen this time. I got 3 games of Battue Storm of the Horse Lords in, which was definitely cool. Neuroshima Hex and multiple Pandemics rounded it out. Played some WaW: Eisenbach (currently my favorite), finally bought FAB The Bulge from the games dealer that shows up and another guy sold me a new in shrink copy of Star Wars The Queens Gambit for $70. Oh yeah, I won a copy of Kingsburg in the raffle, it's going straight to my trade list.

It's the best group I've found in DFW so far. Even got my wife to hang and play on Friday. She's gun shy of gaming groups after having to smell some of the unwashed at BBG Con, but 90% of the DGM group bathes regularly so that's a plus.

EDIT: Forgot to say that the pop light wargames (C&C Ancients, Combat Commander) are always played. The new Corps Command: Totennestag did hit the table this weekend. FAB The Bulge will get busted out next time. This weekend was the first time I *didn't* see multiple games of SW: The Queens Gambit being played.

A few of my buddies came over last night and played Cutthroat Caverns, Funny Friends and Last Night on Earth. It was our first time playing all 3. Everybody seemed to enjoy all 3 games, with Funny Friends providing the biggest laughs of the night.

While I had the most fun playing FF, I think CC was the strongest of the 3 games.
