So does the app really do anything that couldn't be replaced with regular components?

It looks like the app manages time in a pretty unique way.

Yeah, curiosity got the best of me and I watched the video. Looks kinda neat, but is the video lacking or does the game seem to require a sort of GM type player?

it seems there are 4 roles, think space cadets, and one player's role is it relay the information the app is coming up with to the other players and confirm when that action is complete (i think).

-2 New armies for BattleLore 2
-Big Box Expansion for Eldritch Horror: Says they're taking more time with them instead of going crazy like Arkham Horror
-Then of course expansions for Netrunner and LotR LCGs
-And other misc RPG stuff for Star Wars

EDIT: Also looks like a good amount of time was spent on Digital Integration. Sales pitch it seemed.

What the fuck, I thought for sure they would announce an Imperial epic class ship for X-Wing. UGH.

4th D&DAS game, Wizkids 2015. Who gives a fuck about Eldritch Horror expansions and digital integration?

Although a new faction will be cool for X-wing. No imperial huge ship is bullshit. I really enjoy epic play and want a huge ship for imperial forces.

Ain't nothing blander right now than anything to do with Cthulhu. It's as overplayed as the scowling Euro-man thing was 10 years ago.

Exactly. I don't care if it's some EU ship as long as it looks good and has flavor. After that the game will feel complete to me.

I also think that the X-Com game looks really good, having seen more about how it works. I don't have a history playing X-Com the video game, so I'm not tied to whether it features tactical fighting or not... Strictly seen as an "aliens are attacking Earth and what can we do about it from the big picture" kind of thing, it seems very appealing to me, and the app seems to integrate well in an interesting way.

So between those two things, I'd say FFG's emphasis on "digital integration" is a good thing, and they are certainly poised to become forerunners with that going forward.

Yeah, like six years after they announced Citadels and Wings of War for Xbox Live...

I just watched Joel's Star Wars Armada video, that game really looks like it has a ton going on, and the bases look every bit as clunky in action as they did in the first photos. I guess it wasn't my kind of game anyway, I like small skirmish games, I wonder how many ships folks will be tabling in Armada.
