Gen Con Roll Call

My bookings look like this:

Thursday 1-5PM (Pressure Matrix then City of Thieves) & 8-10PM (Arcana)
Friday 2-4PM (City of Thieves) & 9-11PM (Slapshot Tournament)
Saturday 11-4PM (Thunderstone Tournament) & 5-7PM (Arcana) then onto the L5R party.
Sunday 10-12PM (City of Thieves) & 1-3PM (Cosmic Encounter)

It sounds like most of us will be there for most of the Con. Well except for Steve who is being a fence sitter right now.

I'm totally willing to give up one of my events Thursday, or Friday night (preferably Thursday) to get at least one game in with the rest of you crackers.

Who would be down for something Thursday night?

I grew up in Indy, but it's hard for me to get back there for GenCon, because when the first third of each month is really busy for me at work. It's month-end close, so this will always be an issue until I retire or change professions. Back when GenCon was always held in the third week of the month, I went ten times between '82 and '03... nearly every other year. So this year and next year are out, but 2012-14 are theoretically possible. 2015 won't work.

I'm there for days and only have one event booked. Thursday might work.

Not that everyone has chimed in here about Thursday night. But does anyone have any ideas where we can meet up? Bar? Free Gaming Area?

And I think something classic would be in order.
Twilight Imperium? (which I have never played, but would love to learn. Although I know this could take all night)
Cosmic Encounter?

Do you guys want to play a game at all, or just shoot the shit over a beer?

I work until the hall closes, and then a bit to clean up/set up, but then would be free on Thursday (Friday, Sat, and Sunday mostly spoken for now). Would love to get together for drinks. (and anything that involves sitting down).

Most of the bars are completely packed dead next to the convention hall, any natives there know a walkable one that might not be wall-of-noise?

Either one of those would work for me. or both :)

I was thinking along the same lines. Either of those would work (and you are probably right about the all night TI) and I would offer up Buck Rogers, Fortress America, and Thunder Road.

Might try both, a game a little early until the hall closes then some beers with Thaadd.

Those three would be perfect. I have been wanting to try FA and Buck Rogers. Thunder Road is of course a good time anytime.

In terms of playing space I saw this thread over at BGG:

www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/541893/open...ng-at-gen-con/page/1

After the initial post it turns into a shitting match, but at least it's a place for open gaming. Only open until 10:30pm unfortunately. We could head to one of the bars after that.

Okay boys and girls- gen con is next Thursday and we still don't have a plan yet.

@Avery and Gary Sax: are any of you two still going to gen con?

I was biding my time quietly squirrling away brownie points while making arrangements behind the scenes.

We have a caravan of people going..
we've lined up rooms...
I can almost afford it...
I have recouped my vast brownie point expenditures...
my wife wants us to all go to the beach that week.

I retain a desperate hope that the family vacation will fall through so that I might selfishly drink and game my ass off. Thaad and I would be so good together....

You'll have to pick up the torch for me Billy. Drink anything you can get your hands on. Hit on anything that moves. and play only the very worst games available.

Dammit. I *need* to be there. Let me see how I can bend time and space...

I reeeeaaally wish I could be there when you try to convince English that going to the beach that week would be a bad idea.

I don't know about you and Thaadd though-- girl has been working out and loosing weight and looks like she could kick your ass- but you just might be into that so I'll stop now.

DAMMIT, STEVE, YOU IDIOT! YOU HAD TO GO ON THAT ROAD TRIP WITH KENYON AND FUCK EVERYTHING UP!

Where's Sax, that moustachioed, French villain looking bastard hasn't said if he's going to gencon yet.

Billy, sent you a mail about possible bar for the Thursday thing.

Also, I will be immune after the first 8 hours of GenCon demoing.... (ps, I get Arkham Horror this year! Woo!)

I wish I could be there for a mini-Averyfest reunion myself (13 hour drive, though, and not available)...and too bad Steve can't be there. I think it is impossible to not have a good time with Avery around (though Billy comes close!)
