And now Mantic, in its next phase of their "we're not Games Workshop Jr. damnit!" marketing plan, has released their "It's Not Bloodbowl, Damnit!" game.

www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/...turistic-sports-game

I have to say, the "ok, look, we know it looks like Bloodbowl, but really, it's *not*" blog post about it is actually kind of compelling. I do like the idea of non-stop play after scoring much more than I ever dug blood bowl's traditional US football approach of lining back up for kickoffs.

Anyway, read it here: quirkworthy.com/2012/08/27/dreadball-and...lephant-in-the-room/

interesting read, i never played Blood Bowl, but always wanted too. I might check out this instead though when it comes out. Mantic are usually pretty sound in their pricing.

I think I prefer the style of Bloodbowl. I'm hoping FFG or GW eventually reprints it.

Impact Miniatures has a Blood Bowl alternative that was designed, in part, by the guy who had a large hand in the recent incarnations of Blood Bowl's LRB. Tom Anders, I believe. Or Galak Starscraper in the forums of a few BB sites.

@Duke: FUMBBL may still be operational if you want to try Blood Bowl online. The excellent JavaBowl PBEM client exists if you can find it, but is is a little difficult to line up opponents now that MBBL and the myriad other league sites are largely inactive. The BB PC game is also a good alternative to H2H play and there are leagues to join through the game service.

It is still in print and you can buy the game direct from GW on their website. At least on their US page.

Yes, I've seen that.... but I guess what I mean is that I'd like to see it get freshened up, like Space Hulk did.

Can someone explain the logic behind kickstarters offering pledge levels of double or triple the base price and including 2 or 3 (or more) copies of the game? Is that just to get people who are, in turn, going to try and capitalize on the secondary market or is it for smaller retailers?

Stonecutter, this is just a guess, but perhaps to save shipping. I would think that multiple people interested will order together and it will be less shipping per copy.

This looks amazing. I love the oddball style. It's really a shame we're pretty much stuck with Tolkien derivatives when it comes to fantasy miniatures.

Story Realms went live August 31, and as of today they're more than half way to their $20,000 goal. I'm thinking this may be the perfect game by which to introduce my daughter to RPGs.

Thanks for pointing this out. I don't get to play RPGs anymore, but this might be something I could get the family involved with...

I am not personally sponsoring this one, but I could understand why everyone else here would.

It's a pneumatic shotgun that shoots salt at flies .

Oh. My. God.

Must have.

I don't think those flies were actually alive when shot, however.
