Seriously...if you're not playing Disc Drivin (it's FREE, with 2.99 for the fancy version, but both are compatible) you're MISSING OUT.

More hardcore PC strategy games showed up over the weekend...Imperium Galactica II and Combat Mission.

Come on, Age of Wonders...

you like Age of Wonders as well? Man, Age of Wonders II was such a blast on PC. I think it was the last PC game I've played

I liked Age of Wonders 1 and 3 better than 2.

Why don't we start up a Kickstarter to bring Age of Wonders to iOS?

Also, did you see Nightfall was submitted to Apple last week?

Yeah, I knew the day Nightfall was submitted. I'm chomping at the bit for the release. I think I'll like it much better than Ascension. I own NF and most of the expansions but have not had anyone to play it with. With the release of the iOS version I should have plenty of games to play.

I tried Combat Mission Touch for about an hour and my initial impression is it's a *very* watered down version of the PC version. I was hoping it would at least have the sophistication of the original CM, but it doesn't come close to that. For example, there appears to be no order delays or HQ effects, no way to go hull down with vehicles or change their covered arc. There is no feedback on who is firing at what when you watch a replay, and no info on enemy units when you spot them. Battlefront stated on their forums that the iPad is not powerful enough for even a game of CM 1's complexity (even by the time of iPad 8, they believe!), but I have a hard time believing that.

So far so good...it is really small on the phone, but hardly unplayable.

Interface is even slicker than Ascension.

So is this pretty much like the board game now, or is it still a watered down version?

I really hated the changes Omens made to the board game. And I mean every fucking one of them. I don't see anything in the update to change my mind about it.

No, there's plenty missing: lots of GOOs, allies, and some minor stuff.

But the Cthulhu campaign is brilliant and adds a whole new level to the game. The new investigators are also most welcome.

Nightfall a bunch of times so far tonight. It takes much longer then Ascension to play, although that's partly because I choose to play with two AI's instead of just one. It's more complicated but I definitely prefer it. I haven't played much iOS since Vita came along but this will keep me interested for awhile.

The interface is really well done. The first couple of games it felt super cramped but as I play it and get used to it I realized that it's really smooth and incredibly well done considering how much information needs to be communicated. I have to admit the Ascencion bug never got me like it did others but this I can see playing more frequently even if games would be harder to organize. Surprisingly it works pretty well with multiple AI's and the need for real people won't be as great as I thought it would be.
