Avatars: Are they who they seem to be?

Pretty much why I still have the same avatar. I've been using the same one (or very similar) for the past 7 years. It would freak everyone out if I showed up with like a close-up of a nipple or something as my avatar.

I don't even play Guitar Hero very much these days, though I do still bust it out just for fun. Back in the day, I pretty much completely wore out two PS2 guitars, traded those off, and was well on my way to wearing out two different Wii ones (the strum bar is flaky on my GH:WT one, and my GH3 one has taken to not always recognizing fret pushes.)

I adjust to avatar changes for other people just fine, so I probably should get off my ass and change it. Not like GH is exactly relevant these days.

I can usually separate the person from the avatar with no problem, but Michael's is the exception. Every time I see it, I very briefly (like maybe for a half-second) think it's Michael. Even though I know it's not, and I know it's an actual real-life person who has nothing to do with gaming and/or F:AT.

Every goddamn time. I can't seem to turn off the switch.

The funny thing here is that I look exactly like my avatar. EXACTLY like my avatar. And I used to be a short order cook to boot.

dammit Scissors, of the 3 pics that have been posted, you chose the WORST one. The other two are HILARIOUS. You can't put this current one instead of Summer Glau. It's a crime.

edit: the one of the guy with the gold-trim glasses holding up the white wine glass is just too funny for words. How did the artist draw that without making shaky lines from laughing too hard? lol

After some pondering today, I've changed to Charles Haddon from Ou Est Le Swimming Pool for my avatar. While I would always aspire to be the sort of cool guy like Bill Drummond, Charles Haddon is the sort I would end up as: minor success, do something a little bit dangerous and have it completely fuck up and then end up going out in what you hope will be a blaze of glory but won't be noticed by most.

Just because I'm from Canada doesn't mean she can't be both!

Avatars can be fun to manipulate perception. Like if Uba drove a Volvo and her avatar was a picture of a volvo, I would immediately think she was a good parent. I have no other information to base that on.
