Looks like I wont be able to play on Monday, but Pamir is definitely something I'm interested in playing sometime soon.

This was an excellent time, thanks to both the Dr. and Not Sure for making it. Really nice weeknight games when you play with 3 or 4.

Yeah, sorry. I'm just worthless these days for reliability. Glad it worked out for the three of you.

Played a three player game on TTS with Not Sure and Orlock. I was just completely lost after a reasonably intelligent start.

I was again struck so hard at how no bullshit this game is from a pacing perspective. It dives straight in during your first or second turn. It's possible you could see a dominance card in turn 3 or so and you could lose the game if you haven't been doing a little work on the board. Just absolutely to the point. It emphasizes the thematic element of political and tactical opportunism.

The Sudden Death victory conditions really force you to react quickly to reign in a leader. Coupled with the auto Dominance check when the second Dominance card reveals, you usually have limited warning when a check will occur.

That was sort of a speed round, it definitely dumped us right in it.

We had a super early first Dominance card (like probably the earliest position available).

We had a weird start as well with very few patriots and a lot of unaligned tribal leaders out there. It was kind of a dash to get some cylinders out for that early check.

I took advantage of a lull between checks to go cash-poor and block-rich, then relentlessly taxed from my Kabul stronghold to get back into the game and build war chest. Lurching towards the end, it was really hard to get faction points other than gift buying, so I was pretty well positioned to jump out in front on the third check and end it. The cards I bought on turn 1 were really crucial to that game.

It was super fun to play with people that know it (but I bet it might have been a hard first game), and we clocked the whole thing in 90 minutes, including some remembering how the weird startup order works.

Your taxation was relentless. This game really showed the utility of the location cards if you are entangled with other players re: geography.

So great. Currently playing an asynch with DrMabuse, lots of intriguing things happening.

With all this Eklund shit recently I looked at buying again so I can just make it the standard Pax game in my house (one day) but they don't ship down under, However there are PnP files so I'm going to make myself a copy. Just have to figure out what to do with the armies and roads.

Are these still going on? I wouldn't mind getting my useless, never won, ass at a virtual seat if there's another one going sometime.

I think Gary and co tend to use TTS and run it live these days. if you are still happy for an asynchronous vassal I'll be up for it, and I'm sure I could rope DrMabuse in too. No drama either way!

Cole said on BGG they'd be putting up a Pamir tier for their kickstarter coming up at the end of this month for John Company 2nd edition if you want a copy from the next printing, they'll almost certainly distro to Australia for the KS... they don't distribute the game in normal stores much and keep a pretty limited amount of non-KS copies on their website.

Pax Ren on the other hand... I guess I'll still with my 1st Ed, I already gave Eklund the money on that. I've decided I'm done buying any of his games too.

And yeah, some of us play TTS these days, but others stick with vassal etc too. Real nice module. I've found I can't keep track of games any more asynch and have to reorient every time I reopen the file which is too many cycles for me. I used to go hog wild on asynch games, I feel like something in my brain changed.

I bought a square rod of wood at Home Depot and cut it into pieces, and then spray painted them.

I'd also be interested in getting back into a couple games of this or other things. Apologies for the fall. Was in some turmoil and kept bailing out for one reason or another.

Throwing my +1 in for a TTS game of this sometime! I haven't played so it'd be a learning game for me but I can run through the solo game with the Wakhan ahead of time.
