What about Dust Tactics? How does that rate on the tabletop to board games spectrum?

As far as I can tell, you could wind up getting any two forces. Does that make a difference?

Nah, not really, it might make me more likely to buy a second set if I don't get the factions I want.

I would buy two copies of the two-player starter right up-front. You're almost guaranteed to get something you like, and you'll have eighteen buildings - you can get by with nine buildings right out of a single two-player starter, but with eighteen buildings you'll be able to really fill out the map.

And you buy the starters and inexplicably hate the game, I'll buy them from you. (I have Series 1-3 complete already, but you can never have too many buildings...!)

Just had another post vaporize on me.

Is this game between print runs? It seems to be out of stock everywhere but amazon.

I think PP underestimated the demand for the Battle Boxes and they're still catching up with it. Looks like CCG Armory has them, though.

Threads about table top gaming always need lots of pictures.

Here are a few shots from our game last night. Most of this terrain was built prior to the launch of the campaign, and will be painted between this and the next. We were also breaking in two new players so testing all around.

Looks epic! Those vermin rats look to get squashed by that dude with the hammer. When you guys play Mordheim, are all the warbands playing one scenario or do you break it up so it's 1 vs. 1?

I'm also pouring over the Necromunda rules set. I played Necromunda back when it first came out and played a Cawdor gang. The new Cawdor weapons list is wack, though. No hand-to-hand weapons! Are you kidding me? Their skills are Agility, Combat and Ferocity. They can all use boltguns but gangers can't get Shooting skills? Weird.

This time around we did two on two, so all on the same board participating in the same scenario. If we go up to 6 next time, we've got enough boards to split it up into three separate games, and likely a big 3 on 3 at the end.

Kinky 3 on 3 action. I just read your other report on the game. Do you think each player is going to stick with the same war band in your next campaign?

I keep thinking about Witch Hunters for some reason, not sure why.

I'm interested in Beastmen and others may or may not play the same warband type, but regardless we'll be starting with all new warbands. No experienced warbands at the begining of the campaign. Everyone fresh.

TT games feel open ended and loose, both in terms of game play, and in terms of owning a complete system. Most of the games that I'm drawn to are made or broken on the strength of their scenarios, but then the scenarios run out, or you go to a website where there are lots of cobbled together scenarios, but you don't know which ones are good.

I think the opened endedness is actually a draw for me. I've got this sandbox of figures to play with and some rules to make them work... and I can figure out the rest.

Craniac you should try some of the 2 hour wargames stuff, once you get your head around how the reaction system works (how the game controls NPC figures) its really easy to play out any kind of scenario you can think up, even without having other people to throw dice with.
