My problem with T2 is that's a copy of the screenplay of Terminator. Seriously. It's the same film. It even has a big truck crash near the end with a dangerous liquid in it. Granted, Linda Hamilton is MUCH better in it and has one of the most badass action sequences ever filmed when she goes to town on the asylum security team. That said, there are other films that I would rate over it, if only for originality.

None of these are The Raid. And really, it’s the only choice. The only fair way to determine the greatest action film of all time is the percentage of action present in the film. The Raid is roughly 80% action. That’s four minutes of bloody violence to every minute of not-violence. It’s dropping necks on broken doors while John McClane is worrying about his feet. It’s stabbing throats with fluorescent lights while Furiosa is driving somewhere.

And when it’s not bloody mayhem? It’s trying not to scream as some maniac keeps stabbing the hiding space with a machete.

Game, set, match.

These are fine films, but the Raid and Dredd are particularly standing on Die Hard's shoulders

I prefer to believe that Die Hard was created to prepare us for The Raid. We were walking lost in the wilderness with many layers of gauze wrapped about our faces. The Predator removes the first layer and then Die Hard. Then T2 and The Matrix. Finally after the last layer was removed by Ong-Bak we were prepared for the full glory of The Raid.

The Raid 2 is sadly not a worthy sequel.

Fights were still great, but there was too much talking. Gareth Evans was trying to make some gangster epic when I just wanted more fights with Hammer Girl and Bat Boy.

And the ending kind of bums me out. Iko kills everyone just so the Japanese can swoop in and claim victory as the last gang standing?

So my son saw The Mask at a friend's house and so requested Son of the Mask, the Jaime Kennedy travesty, at our house. I'm not gonna even talk about the film other than how Marvel BLATANTLY ripped off the look of Loki and Odin for Thor from this film. SotM came out in 2005 and Thor was what, 2009 or so? If i showed a low res clip you would swear it was Anthony Hopkins and Tom Hiddleston.

They are both drawing on the Thor comics, especially the Kirby run from the '60s.

Here is a young Loki, drawn by Jack Kirby:
