I'm confused...the app description says it's for 2-4 players.TheDukester wrote: I'm well-satisfied at $2.99, but I can see where there might be some complaints coming. It looks like ass on the iPad, frankly, despite being a universal app. The buttons are not responsive. There's no multiplayer, cheevos, or leaderboards (yet), although the game will track your own top 10 efforts.

Edit: Oh wait, there is one, and I have it, but it's not any good. Again, I ask, why is there not a single good Talisman clone for iOS?
A fair question. The first half-decent one that gets to market will probably do very well, too.metalface13 wrote: Again I ask, why is there not a single Talisman clone for iOS? That seems like a no-brainer.
And not an hour ago, I was wondering why SJG hasn't had Ogre in the App Store for at least a year now. Seriously, Steve: it's Ogre. Code it, put a price sticker on it, and tell Apple it's ready. You're falling behind the digital curve, buddy.
Or maybe they're just too busy with Munchkin 33: Lame Genre In-Jokes?

"We here at Steve Jackson Games would love to produce the definitive, deluxe Ogre IOS game that we all have always dreamed about. However, Muchkin Axe Cop."
This is so meta I don't even.TheDukester wrote: Or maybe they're just too busy with Munchkin 33: Lame Genre In-Jokes?

I didnt like the interface and limited options that were available, definitely not compared to the full blown pc version.
Mind you, I was only trying FM11

I hear people like it because it's closer to classic FM. FM12 Handheld allows you to make customized formations
Often wondered this myself. An insanely popular game partnered with an insanely popular set of devices? It would be like getting a government contract to print your own money.metalface13 wrote: Also, when is Wizards going to get their act together and put Magic on iOS?
Wizards' digital strategy has often baffled me, though. Looking back at all of their digital initiatives over the years ... yeah, sorry, not that impressive.

Unfortunately I believe the basic game system is flawed. Two things bother me. First of all only having two actions per turn and being on a tight schedule, you can't really build up your characters. Or rather, especially when fighting the boss you don't gain anything from levelling up as opposed to hiring hirelings. And why you would ever want to have two of the same adventurer I can't even fathom. Yes, some monsters will allow you to attack with for instance two wizards, but again just having extra cannon fodder is a better option since they help you in every battle.
But the biggest caveat is the combat system. Most of the time hitting a monster requires you to roll a 6 on x number of dice. That means playing the odds is quite difficult and you'll see huge swings of luck in each game. That is not a bad thing in itself, but it's just another thing in the game that makes me feel I have no impact but merely click "are you sure"-icons and wait a lot while the game plays itself.
Then again, I think it cost me three bucks so I can't see why you shouldn't just buy it and see for yourself.
