I love gravy, on fries (a la poutine), on meats, on veggies, you name it and I'll slop that stuuf on most anything. On the other hand the idea of making a meal out of a bowl of gravy, well it's just not appealing and would probably leave you less sated.
Liberia: descent into Hell is just that.
It's a lumpy, flour clumped mess of a game. The rulebook is a hodge podge of poorly laid out sections that lack any sense of informational flow. For instance the set-up rules appear near the end of the ?? page. The glossary of the various factions are in the middle of the rulebook splitting the order of a turn and a sequence that appears on the player aid doean't exist in the book.
Many of the elements in the game don't feel intrgrated with the game take for instance, the ability of getting hostages. In the rules it describes hostages being captured soldiers, et etc. The implantation is rounds of bidding, when a player passes the winning player may buy as many
It feels as thought the deisner couldn't of a way to properly integrate the numerous moving parts (ie editing) so he resorted to die rolling for nearly everything. Need to determine a new leader, roll dice. A player needs to determine an event, roll dice. Need to see the outcome, roll dice. The reinforcement phase roll dice. Need to cross a border... yep roll 'em up.
