Yesterday, I received this email at work:
Please indicate if you can taste flavored beer tomorrow.
List the Flavored Malt Beverages and Flavored Beer you drink and how often.

So today I had to drink 8 shots of flavored beer at 1:00 and 8 shots of flavored beer at 2:00.

You may have summer off, Steve "I wish I could drink beer for living but instead I have to teach brats how to figure paint" Avery but at least I get to drink beer at work.

Were any of them watermelon flavored? Because, yeah, having to drink "flavored" beer might kind of suck.

I've had about 12 Budweiser flavored beers...does that count?

No watermelon flavored beer. But even worse than tasting watermelon beer was tasting Fruit Punch flavored LITE beer. The beer tasted just like Hawaiian Punch with carbonation. I rated it a 3 = Dislike Moderately. My comment was "This beer taste like Hawaiian Punch but guess what? I stopped liking Hawaiian Punch when I was like 10 year old" I guess this is a product being developed to go after that all important underage 14 - 21 year "I'm on a diet but I'm also so buzzed" girl market.

Trying to get a piece of that Bonne's Farm Strawberry Hill market? (By the way, although they say it is a dessert wine, it doesn't mix so well with Oreos, let me tell ya')

It's more like a desert wine--"drink this only if you're dying of thirst in the Sahara."

Mad Dog 20/20--a bottle of this is excellent in hand-to-hand combat.

Yes, the contents give you the courage while the empty bottle is a handy weapon.

Hey, if you like the taste of skunk, more power to you, but they're not supposed to; if they bottled in brown instead of green it would probably taste a lot closer to what was intended. Also, they're lagers, not ales. Never heard of Gouden Haven. Dutch? German?

It's Dutch, very smooth. Green bottles though. :) But like I said "light skunk" really don't like Heinekins (sp?). I really would rather drink a Pabst over that overpriced shit.

If, by "what was intended," you meant "slightly less skunky," I'd agree with you.

I buy shit like Yuengling, Spaten, Newcastle, Franziskaner, and other green or clear bottled beers all the time, and even when you get that odd "funky" six pack, it's never anywhere near the amount of skunk ass you get from beers like Heineken or St. Pauli. The brown bottles don't do anything but give the beer a little protection from being light struck.

And while I've never had Beck's or St. Pauli on tap, I can tell you that Heineken has that skunk no matter what you drink it out of. I've also bought stuff like Beck's right after the distributor dropped it off at the store (before it had a chance to be exposed to flourescent lights), and it was still skunked.

Hey, I didn't say "good", I just said closer to what they brewed.

With so many great beers being made today, at least in the US, I'm not sure why anyone drinks those skunky imports. Hell, I'd drink MGD over those any day.

Bintang - the Indonesian Pilsener. Not too bad if it is properly chilled.

I haven't been drinking much beer this year, but I had some amazing beer this weekend. My cousin Scott and his wife renewed their vows this weekend, and the Polish in-laws went completely all-out for the occasion. His father-in-law drove down to Chicago (about a 14-hour roundtrip) to pick up certain food and beverages, including a suckling pig. At around six, they served a full dinner at reception. Then the father-in-law came around and gravely advised everybody, "this is the beginning of the food."

Anyway, they served an excellent Polish beer, easily one of the finest beers I've had:

Zwyiec

Strong, smooth and fresh, Zwyiec is what American beers want to be when they grow up.

Also, though outside the scope of this thread, they also served an amazing Polish vodka the next:

Żołądkowa gorzka

Traditional Polish wedding receptions last 2-3 days, so on day 2, I was doing vodka shots. I hate doing shots, but I loved these vodka shots. Anyway, this was a flavored vodka with several flavors working together. I noticed a strong vanilla tone, but there was a bit of spiciness and a sweetness like honey. Goes in sweet, explodes like fire and yet leaves almost no aftertaste.

I had to skip day 3 of the festivities... I'm too old to party that hard three days in a row, plus I had to go in to the office today to get some work done involving month-end close.

Becks Alcohol-Free is my current beer, but I switch to Kaliber every now and again.

Cobra also do an alcohol free variety that I get whenever I can, but it's only the larger stores that tend to carry it. A shame, as it really doesn't taste that different from the alcholic variety.

Sorry, that copy and paste of Polish characters didn't go well. Here's a rough approximation of that Polish vodka brand name:

Zoladkowa gorzka.
