Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.
Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;
Two games enter! One game leaves!
Trashdome - Buffy TVS vs Betrayal At House On Hill
OMG - Barnes mentioned Hitler >:-o
..... automatic win for Buffy !
Fuck - sorry, wrong site.

Don't be afraid of Barnes' fascist rhetoric people. Vote Buffy: The Vampire Slayer THE GAME.

Don't be afraid of Barnes' fascist rhetoric people. Kiss other boys, dress up like Judy Garland, and listen to Cher.
Isn't this what you really meant to say, metalface? It's OK, you can say it, we're all friends here.

A) Buffy sucks
To which I can only reply: and so does your mother. Quite well, actually.

The first voting phase is now over.
If you voted for Buffy:
-Y'all are still participating in the 'dome, but you have turned traitor.
-If Faith's bedroom isn't in play, take it and place it on the top floor.
-Everyone draw a card or two?
-Set the moon phase to "new".
What you know:
-Two games enter, one game leaves!
-Hitler ran on the "I have a rocket launcher" platform.
Season rules:
-On turns when the moon is full, drop all your crap and become a teen werewolf (+2 to your might and speed. Furry fandom approval +3).
-If more than 3 of your characters are together in the same room, you all miss your turn as everyone forgets what season this is and who is supposed to be dating who; "hilarity ensues".
-Your rocket launcher is ineffective against the house, but functions normally against the heroes.
-To win, you must perform a series of highly improbably dice rolls at several arbitrarily selected locations within the house.
If you voted for Betrayal:
-If the underground lake isn't in play, take it and place it so that it hovers about 3 feet above the rest of the house.
-Take a number of "zombie" tokens equal to 3 times the square root of the absolute value of the number of traitors minus the number of heroes plus seven and set them aside.
-Take the "kidney", "Toy plane", "UFO", and "dripping with 7" tokens and set them aside.
-Pull 3 random circle-shaped tokens out of the box and stick them in the entry hall.
What you know:
-Two games enter, one game leaves!
-A bunch of people on F:AT enjoy teen soaps.
-Buffy (US) fans are trying to get Betrayal defeated in the 'dome.
Haunt special rules:
-Every turn, place a number of zombies into play equal to the integral (with respect to number of turns) of the number of heroes to the power of the number of turns minus 3, from the first turn of the haunt to the current turn.
*ZOMBIE: Might 6 Speed 2*
-If Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in the same room as a hero, place the "dripping with 7" token on Buffy.
-To win, heroes must outnumber the traitors by sometime on Friday

Just like last Trashdome I've only played one game of the two...In this case Betrayal.
What I really like about Betrayal is the way the game starts. This has been harped on by some people where the first part of the game seems pointless, which for the most part it is.
What I find interesting about the first part of the game, and I'm not even sure if this was intentional, but with the slow pace at which the game starts off the game naturally flows for teaching new people the game or non-gamers the game.
At the beginning all you really have to explain is the overview of the character's stats, how to move and how to explore and give them an overview of how the game is going to flow with the explore and then haunt portions of the game. Skill checks and haunt checks can be explained as the game progresses. So the learning curve is built into the first part of the game during exploring and by the time the haunt happens new people should have the game rules and mechanics down pretty well.
What happens though is as people become familar with the game the explore portion becomes a bit pointless and people already familar withe everything may find that portion of the game a bit boring because the haunt is what really makes the game interesting.
I will admit that as I've been thinning my collection Betrayal has bounced back and fort between the "to go" pile and "to keep" pile...Finally I think it has settled into the "to keep" pile because of the reasons above and how accessible it makes the game to a wide audience.

I lost my "dripping with seven token" fairly early on though. Sad story.

I'm just really curious as to how many BUFFY supporters would call themselves fans of the TEEN WOLF films.
Dude! I freaking LOVED Teen Wolf.
"No wolf...ah, no wolf...ah...no part."
"What do you think about...to get worked up?"
"I want you...to give me...a keg...of BEER."
