Starbuck:Galactica to civilian ships Arion (A), Ceres (C), Cylon raiders are on an intercept course to sector Delta, you are ordered to move to sector Echo immediately. Do you read?

" Ceres to Galactica, copy that"
" Arion to Galactica, copy that"

## Starbuck uses Comm action to move Civ ships A & C to Sector Echo

Starbuck: Admiral we have a Heavy raider closing in on Galactica in sector foxtrot, you need to get on the horn, tell "Athena" in sector Foxtrot to blast that frakkin' toaster out of the sky NOW! Normally I'd suggest Apollo but I don't trust what he's doing out there.

Tigh:

I'm staying at my command post and I'm ordering Hotdog the Viper pilot in the Foxtrot sector to start shoting at the Heavy Raider.

Hotdog can potentially get 4 shot off at the Heavy Raider and hit on a 7-8.

If Hotdog hits and destroys the Heavy Raider on shot #1 - #3, lauch any additional vipers in Echo sector to protect the Civilian Fleet.

If Hotdog misses on his first 3 shots on the Heavy Raider in Foxtrot sector I'd like to ask if anyone can suggest alternative TACTIC (cards)to increase our odds of hits the Heavy Raider.

I've already pre-loaded a strategic planning card to help "Hot Dog"s roll with Ken. Forgot to mention that in-forum.

Hopefully, "Hot Dog" won't need our help but it's good to know we have one of Starbuck's trick up our sleves.

Just a small rules clarification - the Strategic Planning has to be played before a dice roll, so it won't be saved if a 7 or 8 or is rolled. And by Starbuck annoucing to us that it is preloaded then we have to take that as played.

Ok, so "Hot Dog" should use Starbuck Strategic Planning on the first attack. If we get a hit lauch other vipers to protect the Civilian ships.

Yeah - since the card has been declared, it (under games rules) should be used for the first roll.

Technically true.

As a clarification, cards may indeed be pre-loaded by PM to me. Then it will not cause this situation to occur.

Example pre-load:

*I will play my Evasive Maneuvers if I'm attacked, or if X player is attacked.

Sounds like Doc did it all fine - just as soon as he announced he had pre-loaded a certain card then it has to be played under the secrecy rules.

Hot Dog shook his head as Starbuck had raced by his Viper in her own. She always seemed to have something to prove, and Admiral Tigh always seemed to be pushing her buttons.

Some of the other pilots had bets going on who would win the day things TRULY got ugly between them.

Kara had youth, but Admiral Tigh was a crusty son of a bitch. Right now, the money was on "even."

"Hot Dog!" came a call on the Comm. "Break escort pattern and engage the Heavy Raider that's moved near to Galactica. I don't know what that thing is capable of, but I'm not anxious to learn right now. Admiral Tigh out."

Great. Big, nasty, heavy Cylon ship headed his way, and it was up to him to try and take it down. Oh well, they didn't call him 'Hot Dog' for nothing."

#VIPER in Foxtrot Sector attacks Heavy Raider!

DIE ROLLs:

#DR_MABUSE (Starbuck) plays 4 - Strategic Planning!

2 + 2 (Strategic Planning) - MISS!
8 - DESTROYED!

#KINGPUT (Admrial Tigh) uses Command - two unmanned Vipers are deployed from Reserve in Echo Sector!

Hot Dog pivoted full to stern and watched as the heavy ship made its way slowly but surely towards Galactica.

"Galactica Actual, this is Hot Dog. I'm getting a look at that heavy Cylon ship and it appears to definitely be on an intercept vector. Sir, that looks like some sort of boarding ship."

"Then let's spoil the party," Tigh responded.

"My pleasure, sir!" replied Hot Dog.

Hot Dog hit the burners. The heavy raider responded with some fire, but it was unfocused. The ship was heavily armored but obviously wasn't meant for much in the way of dogfighting. He spun outside of its firing arc and strafed it with his guns, but they appeared to have little impact.

"Coming around, firing missiles now," Hot Dog said, and he caught back up with the heavy bird. No way that clunker was outrunning him. He managed to get a straight lock and let the missiles fly.

They exploded against the rear thrusters, and at first he was certain that the armor had held. Much to his surprise, he watched as the rear of the ship began to come apart.

"YEAH!" he yelled, turning his Viper away from the heavy raider and hitting the full burners. A few seconds later, he looked behind him to see the Cylon ship detonate.

"Galactica actual, this is Hot Dog. Scratch one heavy bird, sir."

"Nice shooting, Hot Dog. I've sent additional Vipers to the rear flank of Galactica to help protect the civilians. Return to and maintain escort position."

CRISIS STEP

______________________________________

Gaeta turned to Tigh. "Sir, I'm getting a message now from...a group calling itself the 'Sons of Ares.' They feel our situation is hopeless and wish to take several of the civilian and war-capable ships and break away from the fleet immediately."

"Like hell," growled Tigh. "Are they out of their frakkin' minds?"

"If...the leader says that if their demands aren't met, they are prepared to detonate a bomb on board one of the civilian ships."

Tigh stood there, words caught in his throat. They were surrounded by Cylons and now he had to deal with treason and treachery within. He had a gut feeling to tell them to take off, to go rot in space and die; but he knew if he did that, he would never be able to hold the rest of the fleet together. His next move was critical.

OK - time for team discussion. We've had a few more skill cards arrive and it is across three skills so we should be trying for it, the fail consequences of morale and a random civilian ship could be quite nasty. Even the option of rolling to get a 5 or higher with a Strategic Planning is risky.

Interestingly, the latest FAQ says you are allowed to ask if anyone has a certain card to help with an action you are deciding whether to perform or not.

.... and until I get to have my turn I am only of limited, but some, help.
