___________________________________

Before she knew it, Starbuck was up to her eyeballs in enemy Raiders.

"You mother frakkers want some?" she yelled. "How about picking on someone your own size?" she fired a burst toward the three that were breaking off toward the civilian ships.

The first two opened fire in a criss-cross pattern, and it was all she could do to weave in between them. Only a quick spiral avoided the gunfire of the second, her instincts taking over.

Unfortunately, her path took her into the firing arc of the third ship, and bullets shredded the back of her Viper.

"Starbuck! This is Racetrack! You've been hit and appear to be leaking fuel. The other pilots and I will cover your exit, get that bird home NOW!"

Kara grunted in anger and frustration, but knew that Racetrack was right. The only thing she could do now was get herself killed and put the other pilots in danger. She only hoped that Apollo would be able to regroup with Racetrack and the others and keep the heat off of those Civilian ships.

As she landed back inside the hanger and began to get out of the Viper, dots danced across her vision. Chief Tyrol ran over to greet her. "Starbuck! You're bleeding!" He motioned for two other of the hangar crew. "Get her to Doc Cottle right now!" he yelled. Once they were supporting and escorting Starbuck away, he stopped to look at the damaged Viper and clicked his tongue. There would be a headache for another time...if there was one.

"I'll...be...fine, guys...." Kara slurred dreamily. After that, she didn't remember a damn thing.

Turn 4

Admiral Saul Tigh was not a happy man.

First, President Roslin had clipped his wings by getting Starbuck back flying again. He would see to it in the future that President Roslin and he came to an...agreement on the jurisdiction of their respective offices.

Second, Starbuck, being the hothead that she was, ended up getting her bird shredded and incapacitated. Reports were that she was going to be okay, but thrusting her into battle without enough prep may have had an impact. Again, civilian meddling in military affairs.

Yes, he and "President" Roslin would have a nice, long talk once they got free of these toasters. That was for sure.

"How much longer on that FTL?" he barked, then turned his attention back toward their current situation.

Just a question - should the other players been able to play an Evasive Manoeuvre for that third roll as in normal play, or is it played differntly in a forum-based game ?
It's quite important to keep Starbuck out there until her turn.

It is possible, though other players would have needed to queue that up.

Being our first forum game here, I am willing to put the game on hold and allow the opportunity for anyone who wishes to play an Evasive Maneuver--should they have one--on Kara for the third roll.

Please consider the game paused until we have resolved this issue. I am rescinding the Turn 4 Update until this time.

UPDATE: Card was played for Starbuck, but result was same--(8-2=6). I'm even using a real, physical d8. Sorry, fellas.

It's only Apollo with Piloting cards left, so shouldn't have to wait too long.

So do we have to email the moderator beforehand if we want to play cards when a combat is going to occur ?

Additionally:

That will be affected a bit by our worldwide locations - I disappear off to bed at 6pm East Coast US time at the latest, so if a Crisis card or something else that triggers combat occurs after that time then I won't know about and thus won't know to contact the moderator.

Yes. Cards need to be pre-loaded. I had the forsight to extend this opportunity to DR_MABUSE but did not remember to do the same for Lee.

EDIT: What I did in DR_MABUSE's case was, as soon as his ship was in potential danger, I offered him the chance to pre-load an Evasive Maneuvers, and he did so.

Can you think of any other cards, besides Investigative Committee, that would require a pre-load?

I will definitely pause at the end of a Skill Check to allow Declare Emergency to be played. But we have as of yet had a "real" Skill Check.

Strategic Planning
before a dice roll
Scientific Research before a skill check.
Evasive Manoeuvre can be played by any player after a viper combat dice roll, so everyone needs to have the option to play one.

I'm learning about forum games here, not getting shirty :-)

Not at all. I'm learning too.

Good points on the above. I'll review them and refine how I'm handling turns (and card plays) to be more responsive to these.
