How about an initial first impression? :-)

Initial first impression....

Gabriel Byrne plays a jerk. And if you are expecting Spartacus, you are going to be disappointed. :)

I have been watching Arrow because I really like Green Arrow as a character. It reminds me of Grimm in quality, which means you can happily watch it once and then forget about it. It isn't great like Game of Thrones or The Wire which support multiple viewings, but it isn't complete garbage.

Anyone else watching The Americans? 80s cold war spy drama about a couple of Russian sleeper agents doing spy shit in DC. Pretty good action and fun low-tech style spy tools. It's become must watch for me.

Rewatching all the old Aeon Flux episodes on Amazon Prime. They are all free there. I forgot how brilliant these shorts were. AT to the hilt.

I'd like to rewatch many of those old Liquid Television shorts too.

I have been watching the first half dvd set of the fourth season of Venture Brothers. This my favorite (half) season of Venture Brothers now, despite the paucity of appearances by Brock Samson.

House of Cards (US) on Netflix.

Kevin Spacey...wow. It's like watching an updated version of Richard the Third. Brilliant.

Does that mean good or bad?

We watched the first two episodes of Sleepy Hollow and decided it was unsalvageable. It's essentially a buddy-cop TV show with gore. The occult parts of it just seem oddly uninspiring somehow. The shame of it is that it could be seriously cool if they put the two timelines into play simultaneously. I was hoping for a colonial setting, and the riptide of having Crane assemble the puzzle with information from both of them (dream sequences, assembling pieces from both via memory, something like that) would make for really interesting story lines. But as it stands it's just Castle with dead people walking around. They hinted at it in the second episode, where his wife speaks to him as a ghost in the modern timeframe, but it would be cooler if they kept him and her back in the 1700s.

Lessons in Bad Timing -- I asked my buddy if he had watched the premier. He said he turned it on late, saw the headless horseman shooting people with an AR-15, and immediately changed the channel. I was pissed that they got through the colonial stuff in about three minutes of the first episode, so when Mr. Headless whipped out the assault rifle instead of going with his seriously bad-ass axe from the old days I cringed a bit.

Does that mean you didn't see this week's episode with the New England Common Ground Scorpions?

It's jut loony, and I mean that in a fun way. In fact, I kind of wish it were a little loonier. I talked about it on my blog .

I'm watching Wilfred, which is hilarious. Also It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which is the funniest show currently on television (that I've seen, anyway).

Took a long time, right up to the finale, but the accolades and hype around Breaking Bad finally caught up with me. And now, thanks to Netflix, I've watched the first three seasons in the past two weeks. Amazing show, though there are times when it feels a little bit like a shark jump, where the plausibility is stretched pretty thin. Still, I'm loving it, and I heard the last season was great, so I'm looking forward to the rest.
